Cryptopunk Sales and Traders
Introduction
The Larva Labs studio, comprised of Canadian software developers Matt Hall and John Watkinson, released their first collection of NFTs, CryptoPunks, in June 2017 on the Ethereum blockchain. CryptoPunks are an assortment of 24x24 pixelated avatars. You can think of these 10,000 avatars as a group of digital artworks. Each CryptoPunk is one of a kind and helped launch the modern crypto art movement. what this means is that there isn't a single duplicate character in the whole show (non-fungible token)
As the first NFT collection ever created on the ETH blockchain, Cryptopunks are highly prized for this reason. Although the pictures aren't exactly eye candy, very few people will be able to get their hands on one of the 10,000 Cryptopunks that have been produced.
Method
In the current dashboard, I tried to get an overview of the Cryptopunk NFT collection to figure out which NFT traders benefit the most from trading these collections.
I filtered the ethereum.core.ez_nft_sales table by buyer and seller addresses and project_name = 'cryptopunks' , then calculated the net value of buying and selling by tokenId price in ETH and USD to find the top ten addresses with the highest gain profits.
Also, I used ethereum.core.dim_dates and the MONTH_NAME_SHORT column to find out in which month the most volume of cryptopunk trading took place.
:loudspeaker: Overall View
- The value of crypto punks sold has fallen since the beginning of 2022, but it has been on the rise since June.
- For Cryptopunks, the total number of sales is 14.66k.
- Over $22 million was paid for the most expensive piece of Crypto punk sold in 2022.
- These charts show that in July, August, and especially October of 2021, Cryptopunks received the largest amounts of both ETH and USD in terms of total spending volume. During that time period, the popularity of Cryptopunks collections peaked.
- Also, we can see almost the same result in terms of the number of buyers and sellers, and as you can see, the period between February and August 2021 is the time when the most users have sold or bought these Punks.
Conclusion
Cryptopunks collections have currently the most all-time volume among all other NFTs in the Ethereum blockchains (and also all other blockchains) (and also all other blockchains).
