Polygon Block Performance
Analyzing Polygon Block Performance base on generating time
Introduction
Polygon, formerly known as Matic Network, is a protocol and framework for building and connecting blockchain networks compatible with Ethereum. This protocol tries to solve some of Ethereum's major limitations, including its throughput, poor user experience, and lack of community governance, using a new on-chain solution.
Method
- the blockchains that I compare polygon to are: Avalanche, arbitrum, Flow and optimism
- the timeframe for all Analyzing is start from ‘2022-06-06‘ but the starting date for some chains’ data is later
- I showed the minimum, maximum and the average Time of generating blocks in a table form to better understand
- I choose daily average block time for better comparison in a daily form
- the average TX number presented by Total Value and daily value in a bar graph to show better the difference
between the chains in this comparison
The min time is zero Because they are millisecond and the tables are second
Information:
- the average block time for optimism has the lowest amount with 0.92s, almost 1/3 polygon average block time
- polygon has the highest average block time amount with 2.24s
- with max block time we can check the healthy of the project and from this data we can see that avalanche with 15s had a good network condition in this time and Flow with arbitrum have the highest maximum block time. For polygon, maximum block time is equal to 160, and it is less than flow and arbitrum, more than avalanche and optimism
- in daily average block time, we can see that some days arbitrum had the lowest average block time but in overall optimism had a lead in that
- the minimum time of polygon was 2 second but for other chains is less than seconds
Conclusion
- the minimum time of polygon was 2 second but for other chains is less than seconds
- For polygon, maximum block time is equal to 160, and it is less than flow and arbitrum, more than avalanche and optimism
- polygon has the highest average block time
- polygon has a higher average TX number in block by a huge difference from other chains
Overview
This dashboard would cover:
- the average, min and max block time for polygon and compare it to other chains
- average TX number that polygon blocks contains and also compare it to the other chains
- we also had comparison base en Daily average block time and average TX number in blocks between chains

Information:
- polygon has a higher average TX number in block by a huge difference from other chains in this comparison with 74.7 TX per block
- optimism due to their structure of network has average amount equal to 1
- in the second place after polygon, there is flow with 17.1 TX number
- in the daily stats, optimism and arbitrum remain on 1 TX almost all the time
- the average TX number was higher in the first days
- polygon had a lead all days and all the time
