Staked $MATIC vs Cumulative $MATIC supply

• To find the ratio of $MATIC staked vs Circulating Supply, we take the historic data from Messari *
• We look at all $MATIC staked from beginning of time and then filter out starting from 01 July, 2022.
• The ratio of Staked $MATIC/Cumulative $MATIC supply has stayed quite consistent around 0.010, however in the recent weeks starting August we have seen it going up to 0.015 even.
• Apart from the ratio we also plot actual values, where we see the circulating supply going down, which is one of the reasons the ratio is going up.
• If we look at cumulative staked $MATIC vs Price of $MATIC, we that there is a slight inverse co-relation between the two, which makes sense as the price of $MATIC goes down, people are staking more $MATIC.

• Once we have the cumulative Matic Staked starting 01 July, 2022 we then plot various metrics like amount, number of stakers, amount staked.
• To find the ratio of $MATIC staked vs Circulating Supply, we take the historic data from Messari *
• We look at all $MATIC staked from beginning of time and then filter out starting from 01 July, 2022.

$MATIC Staking Metrics

• Till date 51.7M $Matic has been staked since 01 July 2022.
• The highest amount of $MATIC staked was 12.75M $MATIC staked on July 18, 2022, which is equivalent to 10.98M $USD at the $MATIC price at the time.
• The highest number of stakers in a week were seen in the week of July 25, 2022 with a total of 117 stakers.
• The highest number of $MATIC staking transactions were 159 transactions on the week of July 18, 2022.
• The number of stakers and transactions has remained quite consistent in the weeks around 100 stakers and 140 transactions.
• The staking amount is quite varied week to week, recent two weeks have seen a decreasing trend.

Conclusion

• The ratio of Staked $MATIC/Cumulative $MATIC supply has stayed quite consistent around 0.010, however in the recent weeks starting August we have seen it going up to 0.015 even.
• However it seems like more due to circulating supply of $MATIC going down rather than staking increasing significantly.
