How frequently do users on Osmosis unstake their Osmosis?

    • Looking at the data for the past 90 days, on an average ~200 wallets are unstaking their OSMO tokens.
    • In terms of volume this amounts to anywhere between 100K-500K $OSMO.
    • Some days do see huge spikes like May 11, 2022 had 644 users, and May 3 had 6.6M $OSMO unstaked.

Do they re-delegate to certain validators more frequently than others? Why might this be so?

    • Yes, some validators are certainly re-delegated to more frequency, for example osmovaloper1lzhlnpahvznwfv4jmay2tgaha5kmz5qxwmj9we Citadel.one validator has seen the most number of re-delegations in the past 90 days.

    • This most likely is due to the fact that some validators increase their commission fees, and then people move to these well established validators like

      Citadel.one

    Conclusion

    • Unstaking peaked in May 2022 and has come down ever since and there is a decreasing trend.

What do they do with the OSMO once unstaked? Do they re-delegate, enter a LP position, or swap into another token?

    • To calculate this we take the unstaked date for each wallet and see what they do in the next 7 days with their OSMO tokens.
    • Most of the unstaked OSMO as either swapped or added to an LP.
    • Highest was May 17, which saw 866 wallets adding to LP and 321 wallets swaps.
