Terra - 6. New Year, New LUNA?

The holidays and New Year are often chaotic in the crypto and DEFI space, as users make a spree of new transactions and wallets as they receive (and give) some cash and coins as holiday gifts. Has this flurry of winter activity impacted the Terra ecosystem? Are users creating new wallets or buying tokens with their newfound holiday wealth? Are they staking all those new tokens once they get them? Or are they selling tokens to pay for their own gifts and holiday travel? Create a dashboard documenting significant trends in transactions, wallets, supply, staking, development, or other aspects of the Terra ecosystem. Note any changes in metrics such as the average and total transactions per week and the fees associated with them, the total and average number of new wallets created each week, the total and average number of contracts deployed, LUNA staked, and anything else you interesting.

Methodology

For various terra metrics we look at the following terra.core tables and from each table we deduce the required metrics.

terra.core.fact_nft_mints

For new wallets, minters, buyers, swappers, etc, we look at the first transaction of each wallet since the starting of Terra Chain.

Once we have the list, we filter out based on the parameters set above.

Definitions

Swapper: Any wallet that swap To or From $LUNA token.
Staker: Any wallet that delegates/stakes $LUNA to a validator.
Contract: Smart contract used when the transaction is executed.
NFT Buyer: Any wallet that buys NFT from the secondary marketplace.
NFT Minter: Any wallet that originally mints the NFT.

Development Metrics

Terra 2.0 seems to be alive and kicking with 38 new contracts being deployed so far since start of 2023.
97 new contracts were deployed in Dec 2022.

Swap Metrics - To Luna

Number of swap transactions to $LUNA saw some spike in the last week of 2022, however that has gone back down to around 300 swaps per day.
Swap Volume To Luna spiked on Dec 04, 2022 to 2M $LUNA, however it was just short lived with it being back to around 1M $LUNA per day.
Number of Swappers are pretty stable as well around 140 wallets everyday.
Number of New Swappers joining the ecosystem is interesting, we see a constant stream of around 10-15 new wallets swapping to 100K-400K $LUNA per day.

NFT Sale Metrics

Sale metrics are interesting, Dec 2022 only saw a spike on Dec 1, 2022.
The Sale volume numbers are very low with only sales worth $500 LUNA happening everyday.
There are only 10-15 active NFT buyers everyday out of which only 1-2 are first time buyers.
NFT secondary market on Terra seems to be dead as well.

NFT Mint Metrics

Mint metrics are interesting, Dec 2022 saw 2 spiked in the number of mints on Dec 1 and Dec 19, 2022.
However the daily number if barely even considerable around 10 mints everyday.
New minters are also far and few with around 1-2 new minters everyday.
New NFT market on Terra seems to be dead.

Stake Metrics

Number of stake transactions are pretty much the same around 500 per day.
What is interesting is the spike in stake volume per day, Dec 30 and Jan 06 in particular saw the number spiking
Number of Stakers are pretty stable as well around 400 wallets everyday.
Number of New Swappers joining the ecosystem is interesting, we see a constant stream of around 70 new wallets staking $LUNA everyday.

Swap Metrics - From Luna

Number of swap transactions from $LUNA saw some spike in the last week of 2022, however that has gone back down to around 375 swaps per day.
Swap Volume From $Luna spiked on Dec 30, 2022 to 6M $LUNA, however it was just short lived with it being back to around 1M $LUNA per day.
Number of Swappers are pretty stable as well around 140 wallets everyday.
Number of New Swappers joining the ecosystem is interesting, we see a constant stream of around 10-15 new wallets swapping from $LUNA for the first time.

Conclusion

Number of transactions have pretty much stayed the same around 9K transactions per day.
Number of New Swappers joining the ecosystem is interesting, we see a constant stream of around 10-15 new wallets swapping from $LUNA for the first time.
People sold a lot of $LUNA for the new years preparation.
Very few wallets bought $LUNA in the new year.
Staking and NFT market seems dead on Luna.
Things are not looking to good for the Terra 2.0 ecosystem.

Transaction Metrics

Number of transactions have pretty much stayed the same around 9K transactions per day.
The transaction fee seems pretty stable as well around 150 $LUNA per day.
Number of Active Wallets are pretty stable as well around 1.8K wallets interacting everyday.
Number of New Wallets joining the ecosystem is interesting, we see a constant stream of around 100-125 new wallets joining Terra Ecosystem everyday.

LUNA Token Price

The token price itself has taken quite a beating, however not a lot as compared to some other tokens, it has fallen down only 18% since the beginning of Dec 2022 from 1.6 $USD to 1.3 $USD.

Dashboard and charts work well only in Firefox Browser. Chrome and other browsers have issues.
