Trading Digital Collectibles On Flow: An Introduction and Guide
Part I: The Flow Blockchain
Created by Dapper Labs, Flow is a fast, decentralized, and developer-friendly blockchain, designed as the foundation for a new generation of games, apps, and the digital assets that power them. It is based on a unique, multi-role architecture, and designed to scale without sharding, allowing for massive improvements in speed and throughput while preserving a developer-friendly, ACID-compliant environment.
One of the distinctive features of the Flow blockchain is its 'gas-less' transaction model. In traditional blockchain networks, users need to pay transaction fees in the form of "gas" to execute operations - where gas represents the computational resources required to process and validate a transaction. The gasless transaction model on Flow blockchain simplifies the user experience, making it more accessible and appealing to a broader audience, making onboarding and adoption smoother. Flow is designed to address some of the scalability and usability issues faced by other blockchain networks like Ethereum. It aims to provide a developer-friendly environment for building decentralized applications (dApps) and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) with its open and inclusive nature.
Dapper Labs developed the Flow blockchain as a solution to the problem of scalability for consumer applications like games and digital collectibles.
The Flow blockchain encourages developers to innovate and build without facing the challenges of high fees and network congestion experienced on other blockchains. The platform's native support for NFTs enables developers to easily create and manage unique digital assets. Flow's high throughput capabilities accommodate a large number of transactions per second, making it suitable for applications and games with a significant user base. Furthermore, the Flow ecosystem includes user-friendly wallets and interfaces, facilitating a smoother user experience and encouraging broader adoption.
Flow is committed to a world of open ecosystems: a world where software developers, content creators, and consumers alike are appropriately incentivized and rewarded for the value they contribute to the network.
In conclusion, the Flow blockchain's focus on scalability, developer-friendly tools, and support for NFTs positions it as a promising platform for building decentralized applications and engaging user experiences. As the blockchain space continues to evolve, Flow's advancements could contribute significantly to the broader adoption of blockchain technology. Part II: Trading Digital Collectibles
Trading Digital Collectibles (Non-Fungible Tokens) refers to the exchanging of unique digital assets and transferring ownership rights of these digital collectibles between two wallets on the blockchain. As stated above, because the Flow blockchain offers a 'gas-less' transaction you can trade multiple digital collectibles without the worry of extra fees.
This dashboard's primary focus will be on Evaluate as that platform is the easiest to jump into, but below let's explore three alternative methods of trading and transferring digital collectibles between wallets.
-
Evaluate (Trade Tool): By far the premium way to trade digital collectibles from multiple collections at one time, and one of the easiest and quickest methods.
-
Flowty or Flowverse and Blocto or Lilico (Wallet Transfers): By sending a digital collectible to a Blocto or Lilico you can then connect your wallet on Flowty or Flowverse and view your collection and collectible there. From this point, you can either place your collectible on the marketplace or transfer to another wallet easily.
-
Barter Yard Club (Barter System): By connecting to their swap website you can list a collectible up for 'barter' or offer up collectibles in your wallet for someone else's listing. This allows you to pick a collectible you own and accept or decline offers from other users - all using collectibles only.
All these methods allow you to transfer your digital collectibles out of your wallet and into another without much complication and this dashboard will be updated as new methods come along.
