Optimism - User Behavior (redux)
How is user behavior different on Optimism compared to L1? Specifically, create a comparison between swaps and transactions on ETH mainnet vs Optimism, looking for things like daily swap volume, daily active users, and average volume swapped (use a single DEX for your comparison, either Uniswap or Sushiswap). L2 is far cheaper, but by how much? What are the average fees for a swap on Optimism compared to ETH Mainnet?
Layer-1 is the term that’s used to describe the underlying main blockchain architecture. Layer-2, on the other hand, is an overlaying network that lies on top of the underlying blockchain. Consider Bitcoin and Lightning Network. Bitcoin is the layer-1 network, while the lightning network is layer-2. Now that we know the core difference let’s look at the layer-1 and layer-2 solutions that companies are currently working on. We will start with layer-2 solutions.

Mainnet is the term for the real Bitcoin blockchain and network, and is used in contrast with testnet, signet, and regtest networks. Unlike the other networks, which are used for testing purposes, mainnet coins (BTC) have monetary value. When people refer to the Bitcoin network, they are usually referring to mainnet.
Optimism is a fast, stable, and scalable L2 blockchain built by Ethereum developers, for Ethereum developers. Built as a minimal extension to existing Ethereum software, Optimism’s EVM-equivalent architecture scales your Ethereum apps without surprises. If it works on Ethereum, it works on Optimism at a fraction of the cost.

SushiSwap is a software running on Ethereum that seeks to incentivize a network of users to operate a platform where users can buy and sell crypto assets. Similar to platforms like Uniswap and Balancer, SushiSwap uses a collection of liquidity pools to achieve this goal.
The three charts below show the number and volume of transactions in Ethereum and Optimism In all three charts, the value of ETH is higher than op.
-
In the first chart that shows Number of Ethereum and Optimism transactions is the highest transaction value in Eth 1.679068 M, the trend of this chart is downward. The highest transaction value is at Op487.814 k.
-
The next chart shows the number of Eth and Op unique users. In this chart, the highest value of eth is 961.196 k, while the highest value of Op is 106.033 k.
-
In the third chart, which shows the volume of Eth and Op transaction, the difference between the volume of Eth and op is very large. So that the highest volume of Eth is 4.589248M, but the highest volume of Op is 172.4361k.
It can be seen in both charts below that the total fee amount of Eth is more than Op and its trend is downward in the first chart.
In the following charts, it is clear that despite the fluctuations, the values in the Eth network are higher than Op
-
In the statics chart of Eth Vs Op, the values of user, fee and volume can be seen In this chart
-
in the Eth network, the trend is as follows;
Transaction volume > Transactions > users > Transactions fee > Average transaction volume > Average transaction fee
-
in the Eth Optimism, the trend is as follows;
Transactins > users > transactions volume > Average transactions fee > Average transaction volume > transaction volume
-
Statics of Eth Vs Op on sushiswap has a very interesting chart that is arranged in an orderly manner. Meanwhile, the highest value in the eth and Op network swap usd volume
As it is clear from the chart below, we can see that the amount of swaps is more than swappers, and this is an indication that although the number of swappers is small, the amount of swap that each swapper has done is high.
