Solana Protocol Feature
we chose a defi protocol and created a dashboard with the new Flipside layout that can refresh once a day highlighting at least 4 metrics of our choosing that helps show the "health" of the protocol and what is happening on it.
Methodology
In this dashboard, the Orca platform is monitored and some important metrics are analyzed for it. These metrics are:
- Number of transactions
- Success rate of transactions
- Number of unique users
- Swap volume of SOL
In this dashboard, solana.core.fact_swaps
table is used to extract information.
Some charts are analyzed in daily, weekly and monthly time frames.
Introduction
Orca (ORCA) is a Solana token that governs the Orca decentralized exchange. Orca aims to enable low-fee, near-instant token swaps using an automated market maker (AMM) model. On the exchange, users supply tokens to “liquidity pools” and algorithms set market prices based on supply and demand. More info…
Data Analysis
(1). Number of transactions
Examining the graphs related to the number of transactions on the Orca platform shows that after a period of significant increase in the number of transactions, the number of transactions has now entered a downward phase. Almost from the end of May onwards, the number of transactions recorded on the Orca platform entered a downward phase. The highest number of transactions on the Orca platform is on May 23, 2022. The number of transactions on this day was about 416k. On the other hand, the total number of transactions made on the Orca platform has reached more than 28M transactions.
Result(1). From January 2022 to May 2022, the number of transactions was increasing dramatically, but from the beginning of June, the number of Orca transactions entered a sharp downward phase.
(2). Success rate of transactions
Examining the success rate of Orca transactions shows that one of the negative points of the Orca platform is the high number of failed transactions. From December 2021 onwards, in 5 months, the number of failed transactions outnumbered successful transactions. For example, in March, about 60% of transactions have failed. Since its inception, about 35% of Orca transactions have failed.
Result(2). One of the negative points of the Orca platform is its large number of failed transactions.
(3). Number of unique users
Examining the number of unique users of Orca also shows that after a period of high growth in the number of users, Orca users are currently experiencing a sharp decline. The total number of Orca users since its inception has been around 943k. The Orca platform had about 156k unique users on May 26, the most since its inception. The number of Orca users now is less than the number of Orca users in the first days of its work.
Result(3). In terms of the number of users, the Orca platform is currently not in a favorable situation.
(4). Swap volume of SOL
Checking SOL swap volume on Orca platform is also similar to other checked parameters. This means that before May, the volume of transactions was on an upward trend, but after May, it sharply decreased. The highest volume of SOL swapped is on May 26. On this day, 1.22M SOL was swapped.
Result(4). SOL swap volume has reached its lowest level in recent weeks.
