Polygon Block Performance
What is the average time between blocks on Polygon?
Hello! On this dashboard we are comparing focusing on Polygon’s blocks status and comparing it with some other famous chains: 2 L1 one blockchains: Solana and Flow and 2 L2 blockchains: Arbitrum and Optimism on the recent month.
Let’s start with the 1st question here
Q1:What was the maximum and minimum recorded time between two blocks?
We see with 1523 transactions, Solana is the record holder of running transactions between 2 blocks here.
Polygon here is in second place with 1250 transactions (273 transactions less than Solana), Flow with 435 is 3rd and Arbitrum with 128 is the next one.
Optimism Chain runs 1 transaction per each block, So it will be last one in this case.
All Are the same here! Meaning All the chains can handle one transactions between 2 blocks at least.
On the next chart we will look to the average number of transactions per 2 blocks for the selected chains to get find better performer blockchain.
Solana is showing its superiority here! handlining almost more than 399 transactions on between 2 blocks on average, Solana has the best performance here, polygon with 73.03 flow with 15.16 and Arbitrum with 1.14 are in other places.
And as we know before Optimism this number for optimism is 1 due to the its structure.
By looking to the daily chart, we can see the Solana is facing bigger spikes on the chart comparing with Polygon, So although Polygon can handle less amount of transactions between 2 blocks, but can do this in more stable status!
Also we see no big changes in the rankings during the time.
Q2:How many transactions are done in a block on average?
Beside of Polygon, in All other chains minimum time between the 2 blocks is less than 1 seconds (maybe it’s in milliseconds) so as we see , Polygon with 2 Seconds has the most delay time between 2 blocks creations.
Solana with 22s has the best performance here, Polygon with 25s delay is the second best here, and Optimism and Flow are in the next places.
Arbitrum has the worst performance here! having 221 seconds delay which means more than 3 mins, Arbitrum has the highest delay time here, and Arbitrum odyssey event can be one of the main reasons of this.
Huge amounts of users tried to interact with Arbitrum during this event which caused serious problems to Arbitrum and finally the team had to cancel the event!
And finally on average time, Solana wins again, here Optimism is the second best afar that Arbitrum the other l2 Projects is the 3rd, Flow is 4th and Polygon is the last one here.
In fact the minimum 2s delay in Polygon increased the average time very much for the chain, while we see the minimum delay for other chains was almost 0!
This chart shows the average time delay between two blocks for the selected chains in recent month.
We see Arbitrum records had a negative growth specially in the middle of the month, but Optimism delay times is reducing as we go further in time, the other chains have almost stable status during the time.
The below chart gives us a better vision about each chain’s record changings during the time:
Ate the end let’s take a look to animated of daily average transactions counts for each chain:
Conclusion
-
Solana has the best records in both transaction amounts between 2 blocks and time delay between 2 blocks.
-
Polygon has minimum time between 2 blocks creation is 2s, this delay in Polygon increased the average time very much for the chain, while the minimum delay for other chains was almost 0.
-
Solana is facing bigger spikes on the daily average transaction numbers chart comparing with Polygon, So although Polygon can handle less amount of transactions between 2 blocks, but can do this in more stable status.
