Wealth Distribution Comparison between LUNA and United States of America

From the data obtained in statista for Q2 2021, the top 1% of USA citizens had 32.3% and top 10% had 70% of total wealth.

Circulating supply calculation

The circulating supply will be calculated as the total balance of all the addresses holding liquid LUNA. For that, a SQL query will be run on the daily_balances tables adding the balances in LUNA and USD where balance type = liquid as well as counting the number of addresses. This query will be ordered by date.

The chart below shows the circulating supply and the market cap in USD for the last 30 days. Currently, on January 27th 2022 it amounts to 57.7B USD distributed in 319463 addresses. (source "Circulating Supply by date")

Balance of top 100, top 1% and top 10% addresses

Top 100 addresses account for 96% of circulating supply

Top 1% addresses (3194) account for 99.3%of circulating supply

Top 10% addresses (31946) account for 99.3%of circulating supply

Conclusion

Looking at the results, it seems that the LUNA circulating supply is verz concentrated on the top addresses, all metrics a completely asymmetrical distribution towards the whales.

At this point, the results should be reviewed to check their accuracy. Since the Bounty ends in some minutes, I am not able to redo the analysis and will use the concepts learnt in this my first analysis using SQL to revisit in the future and as well try new bounties that are available in Flipside.

An interesting comparison would be to calculate the Gini coefficient of the LUNA Network and compare it to the world countries ranking.
