Intro

    AlgOcean seeks to bridge the Algorand Community with Ocean Conservation Efforts around the globe.

    It intends to achieve this through:

    1. Ocean Conservation: Seeking to partner up with organizations and charities connected to Ocean Conservation around the world.
    2. Gaming and NFT Collection: A botting chat based game on discord allows to catch distinct sea creatures, and by catching five of the same, u get to mint a whole sea creature.
    3. Community: Promoting healthy growth and competition of Algorand NFT community through events, live leaderbords and meaningful interactions.

    How many creatures?

    • There are 229 species of sea creatures, from Clown Frogfish to Walruses.

    • This are distributed in seven categories, from groups based on rarity, ranging from 1000 creatures, 800, 600, 400, 200, 100 to 50.

    Big time fishers

    4 Players are responsible for fishing 74% of the current fished creatures supply.

    Big Time sellers

    3 Players are responsible to more than 50% of the total sea creatures transferred or sold.

    • Note that the biggest seller is the fourth most proficient fisher.
    • The second biggest seller is at 10 place by creatures fished, meaning that it got its creatures in some other way.
    • The third biggest seller is the third most proficient fisher.

    Big Time buyers (or receivers)

    • The biggest buyer, hasn’t even fish any complete creature inside the game.
    • The second one, also hasn’t fished an entire creature.
    • The third one has fished 46 creatures by its own.
    • The fourth also hasn’t fished a creature.

    Sea creatures minting activity

    February and April has been the most active months.

    • There are days when there just hasnt been any creature minted, this could be the mix between two factors.

      • You need 5 pieces of the same fish to mint.
      • Just plain low gaming activity.
    • But, as of today, no whole creature has been transferred from the main contract since June 12.

    ALGO & AlgOceans

    Way before the game went live, AlgOcean had already started to receive ALGO deposits. This deposits activity has dwindled over the year, with conversions still happening.

    Is possible to see that the AlgOcean being distributed has remain constant since February, 6. This possibly due to the periodic rewards included in AlgOcean program, plus the intentions to keep playing the game, giving that their discord activity, still has players fishing away.

    What to make with this.

    • AlgOcean specifically as a crypto game does works, people can fish in their discord, and had been these past months. It wasn’t until very recently that whole creatures being fished kept flowing away to lucky fishers.

    • Its decrease in activity might very well just a product of the recent crypto winter on which the whole crypto ecosystem finds itself these days.

    • Its not too late to join, there are still thousands of sea creatures to catch.

    • Though it seems that almost the whole fishing haul its due to a few wales that ended up catching mostly of the game’s current circulating supply.

    • And if competition what it seeks, the buying power is a lot closer to fight than amount of creatures catched.
