Polygon NFT

    with lvl 1 traders

Polygon, being a Ethereum’s layer 2 solution, also has participation in one of the biggest nft markets in the whole nft world. Opensea.

Lets take a look at it.

    Task

    • How popular are NFTs on Polygon? Track daily volume over the past month/year/etc.
    • How many Polygon users started off with NFTs?
    • Who made the most profit?

    Method

All the data came from the next data tables in Flipside’s data repository:

    • flipside_prod_db.polygon.transactions to find all NFTs related transactions in Polygon.
    • flipside_prod_db.polygon.labels to find labels with the word ‘nft’ in them.

    Note:

This approach heavily relies on Polygon’s labels table to be up to date, giving that im only using ‘nft’ as the desired label.

How many chose nfts at their arrival at Polygon

It was a lot of them.

    572k specifically.

Until July, 22 in 2021. People arriving daily at Polygon specifically for NFTs amounted for around 20 to 150 people at most .

But then, it spiked to almost 6k new users.

After it maintained a constant level of around 1500 daily users choosing NFTs as their motive of arrival in Polygon.

    But…

    What about the activity

Nothing good i can tell u that.

Truth is, NFT related activity has decreased abruptly since mid February.

With a brief bump in activity days later, it quickly fell down to the activity levels that we are seeing this days.

There was though some activity related to Terra’s crash on May.

Is not significant, but it clearly reacted while it was happening.

After that, activity dwindled down to 4k to 6k daily transactions, until it spiked again on June, 20.

From what it once was 89k transactions related to NFTs, to a low of 4000 daily. Now there are at least 10k daily transactions.

But™ this was also a decrease from past weeks level.

So its not really clear of what the future for NFTs on Polygon will be.
