The first thing I would like to start with the analysis of validators is blocks.

Blocks are a group of information stored on a blockchain. Inside the block are information about all transactions.

A blockchain validator is someone who is responsible for verifying these transactions

TOP VALIDATORS BY DELEGATOR SHARES

Next, I highlighted the top validators by delegator shares. I also divided them into 2 categories: jailed and no jailed

There is a mechanism called slashing that is used to disincentivize the bad behavior of validators When a validator is offline longer than a specified period of time, a portion of their stake is burned every block. A validator that double-signs is slashed severely and permanently removed from the active set.

This dashboard is a deep diving into validators analysis in Osmosis

Validator analysis includes:

• Block activity
• Delegator shares
• Slashing
• Votes
• Superfluid staking

GOVERNANCE

As I wrote above, validators that are in the top 130 and also have the right to vote (was not seen in bad behavior) can participate in consensus. Let's see how they vote

SUPERFLUID STAKING

Superfluid Staking is a process that yields additional APR based on the value of your share of the pool you have bonded liquidity for.

📚 Methodology

Database: osmosis.core.fact_validators, osmosis.core.fact_superfluid_staking, osmosis.core.governance_votes, osmosis.core.fact_blocks tables of Flipsidecrypto database. Only successful transactions are used in this dashboard.

Period: since June 2021, super liquid staking - since February, 2022

🔎 Key insights

• Since the beginning of June, there have been almost 8M blocks on Osmosis, each containing an average of 15 transactions.

• The number of unique validators during this time reached 226, each validator verified an average of 35.3k blocks

• Since June 2021, the daily number of blocks is about the same, however, we can see that their daily number is slowly increasing. So, in 2021, this value was approximately at the level of 13.5k blocks per day, by the beginning of 2023, approximately 15.2k

• The minimum number of blocks per day is observed on June 8- 1.62k

• The daily average number of blocks per validator in 2022 is lower than in 2021. In July 2021, there were 249 blocks per validator daily, by mid-July, this value decreased by almost 2 times and continued to slowly decrease to about 100 blocks daily per 1 validator

• As for the daily number of unique validators, we can see that this metric is growing, and also that the growth has a stepwise nature. So, for several months, the metric can be at the same level, then it rises stepwise to a higher level, and remains at this level for some more time. And so several times

• 46.25% of blocks are verified by the top 10 validators. The largest share of blocks (10.26%) was processed by the Cosmostation validator
