WHAT IS OSMOSIS?
The Osmosis blockchain is a decentralized network, ran by 100+ validators and full nodes, with many front-ends and development teams on it.
Osmosis is an advanced automated market maker (AMM) protocol that allows developers to build customized AMMs with sovereign liquidity pools. Built using the Cosmos SDK, Osmosis utilizes Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) to enable cross-chain transactions

SUMMARY
At the end of each chapter, I made conclusions. In the summary, I would like to answer the main questions that were raised at the beginning
-
The most common ways of entering Osmosis is Cosmos (26,7% of users), Evmos (15,1%) and Juno (11,5%) plaforms
\
-
The most common asset transferred into Osmosis for first transfer - ATOM (39,8% of users chose this asset, 57,1% of total volume)
\
-
First actions of wallets when they first come to Osmosis by number of wallets:
-
Swap (62,7%): Swap and then transfer out (63,8%), Swap and then LP (19,2%)
-
Staking (20%)
-
Transfer (10,4%)
-
LP (6,92%)
So, the first action of wallets after coming to Osmosis by number of wallets is Swap and Transfer out
\
by volume in USD:
-
Transfer (47,1%)
-
Staking (33,8%)
-
Swap (11,7%): Swap and then LP, Swap and then LP (43,7%), Swap and then Staking (33,9%), Swap and then Transfer (22,1%)
-
LP (7,42%)
So, the first action of wallets after coming to Osmosis by volume in USD is Transfer
-
-
Most commonly assets that have been swapped for and transferred out: JUNO and ATOM from both a volume and number of user standpoint
-
Most commonly assets that have been swapped for and then LP’d: OSMO and ATOM from both a volume and number of user standpoint
FIRST ACTIONS ON OSMOSIS
What do wallets do when they first come to Osmosis?
So, let's see what do users after coming to Osmosis. I chose 3 options for presenting this information: areacharts by weeks (weekly total count and normalized area chart for a better representation of the daily distribution of these actions) and also as a pie chart where we can see the total number of wallets who have made each action and total percentage distribution of these actions
🔑 Key insights
After comnig to Osmosis, most of the activity in terms of the number of wallets, namely 62.7%, is due to swaps. In second place is staking (20%) and then transfer (10.4%). Only 6.94% of wallets perform LP actions. If we talk about the volume in USD, then almost half (47.1% of the total volume) is a transfer. We also see a sharp increase in transfer volumes at the end of March and in July. The second action after entering Osmois in terms of volume is staking (33.8%), the third is swap (11.7%). LP actions account for 7.43%.
So,
After first coming to Osmosis, the first action in terms of the number of wallets is a swap, in terms of volume in USD - a transfer
Next, we will see what most of the users do after swaps: LP actions or transfer out of these assets
- by number of wallets
- by volume in USD
- by number of wallets
- by volume in USD
🔑 Key insights
Above, I made a conclusion that since 1st of January, 62.7% of wallets have chosen "Swap" as the first action after entering Osmosis.
What is their first action after the swap? Let's see
In terms of the number of wallets, the first action "transfer" was chosen by 63.8% of users, the next one is LP action (19.3% of wallets). In terms of volume in USD, the first action after the swap falls on the "LP actions" (43.7% of total volume), followed by staking 33.9% and then the transfer (21.1%)
So,
After first coming to Osmosis, the second action after swap in terms of the number of wallets is a Transfer, in terms of volume in USD - LP actions
🔑 Key insights
-
Most of the first transfers into Osmosis from both a volume and the number of user standpoint are accounted for by ATOM (39.8% of wallets chose this asset for the first transfer to Osmosis, 57.1% of the total). In second place in terms of the number of wallets EVMOS, however, this is only 1.88% of the total volume in USD
-
Since the beginning of the year, the volume of first transfers to Osmosis has been declining quite strongly until June and then remained approximately at the same level until the end of the year
- by number of wallets
- by volume in USD

What is this dashboard about?
On this dashboard, I analyzed a typical user journey through Osmosis. Specifically:
- The most common ways of entering Osmosis (Axelar (Satellite) or elsewhere)
- The most common asset transferred into Osmosis for first transfer
I also tried to find answers to the following questions:
-
What do wallets do when they first come to Osmosis?
-
Join to swap and then transfer that asset out?
-
Join to stake OSMO?
-
Join to swap and then LP?
-
Which assets are most commonly swapped for and transferred out?
-
Which assets are most commonly swapped for and then LP'd?

Methodology
All metrics were calculated from both a volume and # of user standpoint

🔑 Key insights
There are several ways of entering Osmosis, the most popular for 2022 was the Kosmos platform, it was used to enter 26.7% of users, followed by Evmos (15.1%), followed by Juno (11.5%). Eumos as a way of entering Osmosis begins to be used from May 9th. The largest number of entering Osmosis is observed in mid-February - March
🔑 Key insights
-
If we look in more detail at the transfer from Osmosis after the swap in terms of assets, we can make the following conclusions: a little more than half of the users chose 2 assets for the transfer out: JUNO (26.9% of users) and ATOM (26.3% of users), by volume in USD they account for 75.4% of the total (40.4% ATOM and 35% JUNO)
-
The number of unique users who transfer out after the swap peaked at the beginning of May, then began to fall and remained at about the same level since the beginning of April.
🔑 Key insights
- If we talk about LP actions as the first action after the swap, then we can draw the following conclusions: most users (92.7%) chose 2 assets for the transfer out: OSMO (51.6% of users) and ATOM (41.1% of users), by volume in USD they account for 98.2% of the total (55.8% OSMO and 42.3% ATOM)
- Since the beginning of the year, there has been a decrease in the LP of actions as the first action taken after the swap from both a volume and the number of user standpoint
