Polygon Block Performance

What is the average time between blocks on Polygon? What was the maximum and minimum recorded time between two blocks? How many transactions are done in a block on average? How do these numbers compare to L1 such as Flow or Solana, or other L2 such as Arbitrum or Optimism?

    Methodology

Using the fact transaction tables in the Polygon and Flow networks and Optimism, we called the time interval between two blocks and obtained the average, maximum and minimum value of this time interval. Also, using the same table, We called the number of transactions related to each block and the daily average. and compared Polygon, Flow and Optimism networks in this regard

    Time interval between two blocks

The graphs below show the time interval between two blocks as an average and the maximum and minimum in Polygon, Flow and Optimism networks.

We can see that the Polygon network has the longest time interval between two blocks compared to the other two networks.

We can see that the maximum recorded time interval between two blocks in the Polygon network is less than the other two networks and is 25 seconds.

    • transactions per block

We are going to check the number of transactions that take place during each block in the Polygon network and compare it with Flow and Optimism. The graphs below show the number of transactions per block on a daily and average basis in these blockchains.

As we can see, the number of transactions per block in the Polygon network is more than the other two networks, and we saw that one transaction per block is done in the Optimism layer 2 network.

    conclusion

In this dashboard, we explored the time intervals between blocks in the Polygon network and checked the maximum, minimum, and average time intervals between blocks, and we compared these items to two other networks, Flow L1 and Optimism L2.

We saw that the average time interval between two blocks in the Polygon network is more than the other two networks, and the minimum time interval between two blocks in the Polygon network is more than the other two networks, the average time is about 2.5 and the minimum time interval is about 2 seconds.

And the maximum time interval recorded between two blocks in the Polygon network is less than the other two networks and is about 25 seconds. We made this comparison about the number of transactions per block in three networks and came to the conclusion that the Polygon network has The transaction per block is about 75 transactions, much ahead of the other two networks. It seems that this number is very significant, while the number of transactions per block is about 14 transactions in the Flow network and 1 transaction in the Optimism network.

A look at the most important features of Polygon

    • There is great compatibility between Polygon and Ethereum. In the Polygon network, you can access all the features of the Ethereum blockchain. Also, transferring from Ethereum to Polygon is as simple as pressing one click.
    • Excellent scalability, along with the possibility of processing transactions with a limited cost, is Polygon's most important competitive advantage.
    • The implementation of Polygon's protocols has not had any negative impact on the security of its network.
    • It is possible to develop private and independent blockchains in Polygon as easily as possible
