Average Optimism Portfolio (redux)
Introduction
In this dashboard, we are going to analyze the portfolio of Optimism users and check how it changes over time. We also study the type of activity of Optimism users, which can be one of stake, unstake, liquidity pools/farms and NFTs as an example.
In the first part, we present the contents of Optimism wallets and then depict its changes over time in the form of a timeline. In the following, we examine the types of user activities and their frequency over time. Finally, we will introduce the most used Optimism programs in terms of number of transactions and number of users.
Methodology
In order to obtain the contents of the portfolio of wallets for each token, we obtain all its purchases and sales using the token purchase and sale table. This table with name optimism.core.fact_token_transfers
It is available in the Flipside database. Then, we subtract the total sales from the total purchases and arrive at the balance of each token in each wallet. In order to get user activities also from the table optimism.core.fact_event_logs
. We used and filtered the type of events as activity.
User's Portfolio
Optimism users keep different tokens in their wallets. The total balance of each token in all wallets created on Optimism is considered here. For this purpose, we have drawn the total balance of users' wallets for each token in the chart below. Also, the trend of changes in the balance of users' wallets over time is also drawn in the following timeline in the monthly time frame.
Due to the fact that different tokens have different values, we cannot compare their number, so we calculated their dollar value according to the daily price of the token and considered the balance of the token in dollars.
Below, the chart on the right presents the wallet balance of all Optimism coins on a monthly time frame. The chart on the left displays the daily dollar value of all Optimism wallets.
Users Activities
In this section, we check user activity. In general, we divide these activities into several general categories and count the number of transactions for each. The number of transactions in each activity category is generally presented in the pie chart below. Also, the trend of their changes over time is presented in the monthly time frame and also in normalized form.
Applications
This section is dedicated to applications which utilized OP token. In this section, we review and compare applications that work on optimism. In order to compare programs, we have used two metrics, the number of unique users and the total number of transactions. Two graphs show the top applications on Optimism in terms of number of users and number of transactions.

Key Findings
- Optimism is related to airdrops, delgate transactions and other Optimism specific transactions. This type of activity ranks first in the number of transactions and users.
- In terms of the number of users, UniSwap ranks first among Optimism dApps.
- Volodrome has had the most transactions among dapps. Uniswap transactions also have a significant number in the next rank.
- Rubicorn, 1inch and Slingshot can also be considered among the popular programs of users in the next ranks.
Key Findings
- Optimism is a layer 2 network on Ethereum, so it can be said that its most important task is to perform activities in this regard. In the early days of the network, the majority of user transactions were in this field, but over time, transactions related to DEX have taken its place. At present, the most optimistic transactions are related to decentralized exchanges.
- Transactions related to DeFi, dApp and NFT were not present in the early days of the network, but over time they have become a part of users' activities.
- The interesting thing about centralized exchanges CEX is that they have a small share of user transactions compared to other types of activities.
Key Findings
- Stable tokens are more popular among Optimism users and these tokens form an important part of the portfolio of these users. In general, it can be said that more than 60% of Optimizm users' portfolios are made up of stable tokens.
- The wETH token and the OP token in the next rank have also been very popular among Opitism users. Ethereum token alone has made up nearly 20% of the users' portfolio, and OP also has a share of nearly 12% of the users' portfolio.
- In the time chart of portfolio asset changes, the behavior of the wETH token shows a clear growth in recent months. In the case of other tokens, we have not seen such growth.
- The dollar value of all Optimism wallets is affected by the daily value of tokens. In recent weeks, despite the stagnation in the digital currency market, the dollar value of optimism wallets has grown well. This issue has shown the tendency of users to use more optimism in recent weeks.
Key Findings
-
Swap can be evaluated as the most important activity of users. The number of swap transactions of users has experienced a good upward trend in the long term.
-
The possibility of Delegate has been added to this network for about six months and during this time it has contributed to the activities of users.
-
Liguidity and Swap also forms a part of users' activity in the next categories with less frequency.
-
NFT-related activities among Optimizm users have seen a good growth in recent months.
