Introduction
Optimism is designed so that users can send arbitrary messages between smart contracts in Optimism and Ethereum. This feature enables the transfer of assets, including ERC20 tokens, between the two networks. The exact mechanism of this communication varies depending on the direction in which messages and tokens are sent.
The Optimism network uses this feature in the Asset Bridge to allow users to deposit their ERC20 assets as well as ETH coins from Ethereum to Optimism and also withdraw them from Optimism to Ethereum.
In this dashboard, we will investigate inflows and outflows of ETH, USDC, USDT, DAI, and LUSD. \n
Bridge Volume and Balance

Tokens bridge from Ethereum to Optimism has the highest volume in bridges. After that, the Tokens bridge from Optimism to Ethereum has the second-highest volume in bridges.

ETH bridges from Ethereum to Optimism have the highest bridge number and bridgers with more than 213K bridge transactions and more than 181K bridgers.
- More than 50% of value of tokens bridged from Optimism to Ethereum are above $10,000 while only 2.8% of bridging ETH from Ethereum to Optimism transactions are above $10,000.

The peak of new users was on September 2021.

After April 2022, the portion of new users of the Tokens bridge from Ethereum to Optimism increased.
- USDC and ETH have the highest bridge volume and bridge transactions in both directions
Ethereum to OP:
- While we can see that the number of bridges and bridgers decreased, the volume of bridges increased slightly in recent months.
- USDC bridge increased in recent months.
- DAI bridge doesn't exist!
OP to Ethereum:
- Ethereum Bridge from November 2021 till now has been the dominant bridge.
- The most volume of all bridges belongs to more than $10,000 transactions. But the dominant bridge value had different distribution in some weeks.

ETH bridge into OP has an increasing trend and the highest ETH bridge volume occurs in the first week of August with a $163M bridge.

USDC bridge from ETH into OP also had an increasing trend. But in some weeks the bridging out volume increased and caused a negative balance.

USDT bridge balance was positive most of the time.

DAI bridge only shows bridging out from OP to ETH.

LUSD is mostly bridged out from OP.
