Total Metamask Users
Introduction
MetaMask is a free web and mobile crypto wallet that allows users to store and swap cryptocurrencies, interact with the Ethereum blockchain ecosystem, and host a growing array of decentralized applications (dApps). It is one of the most widely used crypto applications in the world.
In this dashboard we are going to find out about total Metamask wallet holders, the average value of ETH held in those wallets and the percentage of those wallets that engage in staking activity.
Method
Users
- To identify Metamask users, its swap router on Ethereum has been used. It means that users that used swapping feature in the application at least for once, is considered as a Metamask user.
What is Metamask swap router?
- Metamask has built-in swap function that let users to swap their assets. working with this swap is easy and straightforward. An example of swap process is shown here:
- Metamask swap router is one of the most used contract on Ethereum. its contract usually is one of the top 10 Gas Guzzlers (Contracts / Accounts that consume a lot of Gas) on the etherscan gas tracker.
- In the below chart, we can see the ETH fees used by Metamask Swap Router in the past 6 months:
- In this dashboard, We are considering users of metamask swap users on Ethereum as a Metamask user. there will be many Metamask useres that haven't used this feature on Ethereum. but in this dashboard, when a user used Metamsk swap feature for at least once, it considers as Metamask user.
- For this report, In order to consider normal users of Metamak, all eligible wallets that had labels in Dim.Labels table are excluded.
- So, In this dashboard, identified users for further analysis are those addresses that had interacted with Metamask swap feature and hadn't have labels assigned in Dim.Labels table.
Average ETH Value
- The average ETH balances of identified addresses is calculated by averaging ETH balances in erc20_balances for current day.
Engaging in Staking Activity
- Wallets that had any kind of staking activity transaction, shown in EVENT_NAME of fact_event_logs are considered as 'Engaged in staking activity'
