Flow Speed

Q4. One of Flow's main features is its speed compared to other blockchains. Blockchain performance can be measured as Transactions per minute. Measure the transactions per minute of Flow since May 9th and 'Successful transactions per minute' and create a chart showing how that metric has fluctuated during that time period. What types of events have raised or decreased the blockchain's performance over that time period? Are there bursts of transaction volume or interest on the chain? Compare Flow's speed to at least two other blockchains.

Introduction:

The Flow blockchain has high speed in comparison with average blockchains. To estimate the speed of this blockchain, the transaction per minute (TPM) is used.

The speed of transaction since May 9th is investigated in this dashboard. Also, the success and failure rate of transactions are demonstrated for transactions.

After that, transactions are classified based on events names and found events and their success rate.

In the last part, the TPM of Flow is compared with Solana and Ethereum blockchains.

Methodology:

To find the parameters related to transactions speed and events, these tables are used:

Transaction speed --> flow.core.fact_transactions
Identifying events --> joining flow.core.fact_events on transaction table

- Solana --> flipside_prod_db.solana.fact_transactions
- Ethereum --> flipside_prod_db.ethereum_core.fact_transactions

The transactions per minute for Flow ecosystem since May 9th is shown in this figure. Also, the success and failure rate shown per minute.

The highest number of transaction per minute happened on May 16th with more than 3000 transactions.

The maximum TPM per day shown in this figure since May 9th. As shown in this chart, the 81% of transactions on maximum TPM of May 29th failed and only 18% of them successes.

Its important to notice that, the ratio is considered to minutes with highest number of transactions on days.

In this part, also consider maximum number of transactions on minute to evaluate the performance of ecosystem on various events.

According to this chart, most of the failures are because of Token withdraw and deposit.

The maximum TPM of days since May 9 for Flow ecosystem is compared with Solana and Ethereum.

It expected that the Solana has the highest speed among these blockchain but the performance of Flow could be compared with Ethereum and some times beat it.
