    Q4. How many addresses on the MATIC network are active? What’s the daily evolution of active addresses? Is the activeness related some how to the price?

    Introduction:

    As mentioned in the question, the aim of this bounty is to find the active addresses on Polygon network over time and compare it with the price of MATIC as a native token of this network.

    The important part of this bounty is defining of the active address.

    According to the Medium, the active address called for addresses that have made a transaction over the past 90 days or received at least once a token in that period.

    Methodology:

    The proposed way to estimate the active addresses and price are:

    • Active addresses--> from flipside_prod_db.polygon.transactions and find addresses that their last transaction happened in the past 90 days by max(BLOCK_TIMESTAMP)>=currenct_date-90
    • MATIC price--> from flipside_prod_db.ethereum_core.fact_hourly_token_prices and set the token address to 0x7D1AfA7B718fb893dB30A3aBc0Cfc608AaCfeBB0.

    Based on the identification of active addresses, the total number of active addresses on Polygon network is about 4.87 million users on June 4, 2022.

    The grow rate of active addresses and daily number of them shown in these figures. Based on these figures:

    • By decreasing the price of MATIC, the number of active addresses dropped as shown on Jan 8, 2022.
    • Also, the price enhancement cause the increment on daily active addresses as shown on Jan 24, 2022 and Feb 28, 2022.
    • The price of MATIC experienced huge drop on May 9 and its because of overall market crush. After that date, the number of active addresses decreased in the first days of market downturn then increased.
    • The main reason of decreasing active addresses on Polygon is based on MATIC price and Overall market condition because by decreasing general public trust on crypto market, the number of active addresses on blockchains like Polygon diminished.
