Based on the explanations of Thorchain community, Instead of limit-order books, THORChain uses continuous liquidity pools (CLP). The CLP is arguably one of the most important features of THORChain, with the following benefits:
- Provides “always-on” liquidity to all assets in its system.
- Allows users to trade assets at transparent, fair prices, without relying on centralized third-parties.
- Functions as source of trustless on-chain price feeds for internal and external use.
- Democratizes arbitrage opportunities.
- Allows pools prices to converge to true market prices.
- Collects fee revenue for liquidity providers in a fair way.
- Responds to fluctuating demands of liquidity.
The total value of locked (TVL) fro all pools of Thorchain blockchain is shown in this figure since start of March. As shown in this figure, the BTC.BTC pool ahs the highest amount of TVL over time and its maximum happened on Apr 3, 2022 with over 585 billion USD. As can be seen, the rank of pools strongly depends on the rank of its native token on crypto market.
To make a visible comparison among pools, the top 10 pools by TVL are selected and shown in this line-chart. Because of the importance of Terra.UST and Terra.LUNA, the starting time of this figure is set to Mar 25, 2022 which is the launch time of these pools.
As shown in this chart, the Terra.LUNA and Terra.UST pools are grown in TVL and take the rank 4 and 5, respectively.
Additionally, the cumulative amount of TVL for top 10 pools is shown in this figure. As shown in this figure, Terra.LUNA is progressed very well and take the 4th rank among Thorchain pools since its launch time. Also, the slope of Terra.UST and Terra.LUNA are acceptable in comparison with other top pools.
In this dashboard the rank of Thorchain pools by their total value of locked (TVL) is determined and demonstrated in the figures. The TVL value is considered in USD to make real comparison among pools.
The considered time periods for this investigation is from start of March. Also, the Terra.UST and Terra.LUNA pools are added to Thorchain on Mar 25, 2022. Because of that, this date has especial consideration in this dashboard.
