Sushi vs Uni on L2

    What is the question?🚨

    In this bounty, we will analyze market share of 2 popular swap platforms such as: ==Sushiswap== and ==Uniswap== and compare them to each other on the following L2 Blockchians:

    • ==Optimism==
    • ==Arbitrum==
    • ==Polygon==

    What we will cover in this dashboard?🌊

    Method⚡

    For this bounty i compared swap stats on Sushiswap and Uniswap divided by 3 popular layer2 blockchains such as: ==Optimism, Arbitrum and Polygon==. At first i analyzed multiple daily swap stats such as number of swaps, number of swappers and swap volume by each blockchain on Sushiswap and compare the chains to each other. Then i did the same thing for Uniswap and at last i analyzed total stats in multiple sort of charts and tried to make it clear as much as i could. For gathering the needed data i used ==Arbitrum.sushi==, ==Optimism.sushi== and ==Polygon.sushi== databases provided by Flipsidecrypto and mainly used ==“sushi.ez_swaps”== table from all these 3 chains for Sushiswap data and for finding Uniswap data i used ==core.fact_event_logs== again from all these 3 blockchains and used Uniswap router contract to filter uniswap data:

    ==“0xe592427a0aece92de3edee1f18e0157c05861564”== . I also used tx_status=’Success’ to filter only Successful transactions and removed the failed ones.

    I analyzed all the data on both sushiswap and uniswap since the beginning of June 2022. ==‘2022-06-01‘==

    Introduction🚩

    What are layer2 blockchains?

    What is layer 2? Layer 2 (L2) is a collective term to describe a specific set of Ethereum scaling solutions. A layer 2 is a separate blockchain that extends Ethereum and inherits the security guarantees of Ethereum.

    According to the charts above, Arbitrum had the most interact on Sushiswap than Polygon and Optimism. As we see in the middle of June, Sushiswap users slowly migrated from Polygon to Arbitrum and decided to interact with Arbitrum which does not pass long after its launch. Sushi users didnt interact with Optimism that much and it seems they dont like it at all. In early August number of swaps and swappers of Arbitrum went higher than Polygon. Both Arbitrum and Polygon recorded over 1M swaps on sushiswap whereas Optimism recorded only 11K swaps in past 4 months since June. Arbitrum recorded over 1B swap volume in past 4 months, we understand that this is a big number when we see that Polygon and Optimism together recorded less than 150 million swap volume in past 4 months.

    In the charts above, we see that unlike sushiswap, users like optimism more than other chains. In the last 4 months, Optimism itself had more swaps than Polygon and Arbitrum together. It is interesting that although Polygon had almost 5000 swappers less than Arbitrum, but it recorded over 100K more swaps than Arbitrum. As we see Optimism had some big fluctuations in number of swappers on August and after Aug 11th it dropped almost 95% and went under Polygon number of swappers. In total, all these 3 chains number of swaps went bearish after July. Optimism swaps were bullish until late July but it went down after July too. Although Optimism swaps got a down trend after July, but it had its most number of swappers after July (early August).

    According to the bar charts above, Arbitrum had the most swaps, number of swappers and swap volume on Sushiswap in past 4 months and Polygon is in the second place. Arbitrum swap volume is so much more than Polygon and Optimism. We can barely see Optimism when we compare it to the other 2 L2 chains. Both Arbitrum and Polygon had more than 100K swappers on sushiswap but Optimism only had 4K swappers in past 4 months. Arbitrum is the most popular chain on sushiswap and Optimism is the least popular one between these 3.

    As i mentioned above, Arbitrum swap stats on sushiswap are so much more than the other 2 specially the swap volume. Arbitrum is leading in Average swap volume and maximum swap volume that recorded on sushiswap by these 3 chains in past 4 months but in the median swap volume things were different, we see that Polygon median swap volume is more than Arbitrum and Optimism.

    It seems that Arbitrum and Polygon users on sushiswap are swapping between 1000$ - 10000$ amount of assets but in Optimism again things are different, most users swapping 100$ - 1000$ amount of assets.

    WETH-USDC is the most popular pool by swaps, swappers and swap volume on all 3 chains, but there is an exception in Optimism top 5 pools by swap volume, the WETH-OP pool is the most popular one in that category on that specefic chain. As we see, it seems stablecoins were a fixed foot for swap pools specially USDC and USDT.

    According to the bar charts, Optimism is the most popular chain by swap stats on Uniswap. Earlier Optimism was the least popular chain on sushiswap but here in Uniswap it is the most popular one (totally different). Over 8000 Optimism swappers recorded almost 500K swaps on Uniswap. It is interesting that Polygon had so much less swappers than Arbitrum but recorded more swaps since June.

    Optimism Average swaps is so much more than the others, over 50% from polygon and over 75% from arbitrum.

    Optimism average swappers is almost 230 and also more than others.

    Conclusion💡

    • In overall, Arbitrum is the most popular L2 chain on Sushiswap and had the biggest market share and Optimism is the most popular one on Uniswap.
    • Sushiswap recorded much more swap stats in past 4 months and its bigger than Uniswap for sure
    • Polygon swaps on Sushiswap were more than Arbitrum since June until late July but after that Polygon swaps went under Arbitrum swaps and never recovered
    • We can say Arbitrum blowed up and became more popular than Polygon on sushiswap since the beginning of August
    • WETH-USDC is a popular pool on both sushiswap and uniswap and among all the mentioned blockchains
    • Users mostly swapping between 1000$ - 10000$ amount on sushiswap
    • Polygon mostly was in the second place in the comparisons
    • Although Polygon had less swappers than Arbitrum on uniswap but they were very active and recorded the most number of swaps in past 4 months
    • WETH and USDC were the most swapped tokens in term of number of swaps
    • Although Optimism only had 2000 more swappers than Arbitrum on Uniswap, but recorded almost 500K swaps while arbitrum recorded under 150K
    • Back then in June, Arbitrum and polygon were competing in number of swaps with Optimism on uniswap but after early July Optimism grabbed the most market share and left them alone
