    • By voting YES, OSMO stakers signal their support for a 12 month renewal of the Osmosis Grants Program with Reverie continuing as Grants Lead.

      By voting NO, OSMO stakers voice their dissent for a 12 month renewal of the Osmosis Grants Program.

      The Osmosis Grants Program (OGP) has been active for 6 months, and is now looking to renew for an additional 12 months with some changes to the program. The details are outlined below.

      • The OGP will continue its core objective of issuing grants to contributors that can deliver long-term value to Osmosis.
      • The OGP will add to this objective the incubation of new subDAOs and Strategic Initiatives to tackle protocol functions.
      • Reverie will continue to serve as Grants Lead and is requesting 55,000 USDC and 25,000 OSMO per month in renewed compensation.
      • Reverie will add more transparency through monthly reporting, calls, and other frequent reports.
      • Jeremy Parish and Monetsupply will be added as two new signers on the OGP multi-sig.

    ✍️ Description of Work


    > Governance in the Cosmos ecosystem has been a hot topic of late - first with Cosmos Hub 82 and now in Osmosis. Osmosis Prop 362 is a vote to decide the fate of the Osmosis Grants Program (OGP). Contention aside, there have been many points and counterpoints, AND a ton of vote switching. Let's take a look at the governance behavior surrounding Proposal 362.

    In this dashboard, we take a closer look at Osmosis Prop 362. For this, we will check the following:

    • Osmosis Prop 362 total number of votes and voters
    • Osmosis Prop 362 daily votes and voters
    • Analysis of voters who switching their vote
    • Average wallet size (in OSMO) of the people voting on Osmosis Prop 362
    • Analyze voting for Osmosis Prop 362 vs. other recent governance proposals

    🧠 Methodology


    To deal with this bounty, we use the osmosis.core schema and the tables fact_governance_votes, dim_labels, dim_vote_options, fact_daily_balances and fact_governance_proposal_deposits.

    Get Osmosis Prop 362 vote transactions:

    • To get the list of Osmosis Prop 362 transactions from the fact_governance_votes table, I operate according to the following query:
    select * from osmosis.core.fact_governance_votes votes where proposal_id = 362 and tx_status = 'SUCCEEDED'
    

    Get Osmosis Prop 362 Validators vote:

    • To get the list of validators who voted for Osmosis Prop 362, we first get the list of osmosis validators using the dim_labels table and the following query, then we join the result of the query below above based on validators address:

    • According to the obtained results, the total number of Osmosis Prop 362 voters is 22.27K, and a total of 24.23K voted for Osmosis Prop 362. Out of this number of voters, 94 are Validators, and Validators have voted 125 in total. Osmosis Prop 362 passed with 84% YES on 2022-11-19 19:08:38.
    • The interesting thing is that in Osmosis Prop 362 Validators have given only 38.5% YES vote to this Prop and about 30% Validator's vote to this Prop was NO
    • Also, the Initial Deposit related to Osmosis Prop is 362 400 OSMO and a total of 1600 OSMO has been deposited for this Prop.

    • The highest number of votes for Osmosis Prop 362 was on November 15th, the day after voting began.
    • Also, the highest number of YES votes is related to the same day when voters gave the highest number of votes to Osmosis Prop 362, which was YES.

    ✅ Observations


    • The total number of Switcher Voters, that is, those who have changed their vote, is 1195, which means that 5.37% of all voters have changed their vote.
    • Voter osmo16798cwveu2pch9js2ptfy4u6td9zme3mh95n86 has the highest number of vote changers among Switcher Voters with 17 votes, followed by osmo1ckzh6vltq4yh0kjn4la3y4aw0aq0jc2xdgevs2 with 14 votes.
    • Out of 94 Validators, 24 of them have changed their vote, and the largest change of vote is YEY → NO, which means that the Validators who changed their vote have finally opposed Osmosis Prop 362.
    • The biggest vote change is on November 15
    • The highest number of vote changes is 2, which means 71.5% of the users who changed their vote only changed their vote once and 20.5% of them changed their vote between 2 and 5 times.
    • Only 0.7% of users have changed their vote more than 10 times

    • The average size of the wallet (OSMO) of voters is 148.4 OSMO, while the average size of the wallet of Switcher Voters is 281 OSMO, which means that on average, Switcher Voters have 133 OSMO more assets.
    • About 66.8% of voters currently have less than 1 OSMO in their wallet and only 1.35% of them have more than 1000 OSMO in their wallet, while Switcher Voters have about 3% of them more than 1000 OSMO in their wallet.
    • The address osmo15urq2dtp9qce4fyc85m6upwm9xul30495qdm4l with 1M OSMO assets has the highest balance among voters, while the highest wallet balance among Switcher Voters is 179K OSMO
    • In overall, Switcher Voters have more OSMO balance than all voters, but no effect of whales on voter change can be observed.

    • In terms of the number of voters and votes, Osmosis Prop 362 is almost equal to other recent governance proposals
    • Interestingly, compared to other props, Osmosis Prop 362 received the highest number of votes from Validator
