Borrowing activity on Aave V2
This dashboard provides a deep dive analysis about SNX, UNI & MKR borrowing activity on Aave Version 2
Aave V2 is a decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol built on the Ethereum blockchain that allows users to borrow, lend and earn interest on various cryptocurrencies. It is an upgraded version of the original Aave protocol and introduces several new features, including improved user interface, enhanced protocol security, and a more efficient lending and borrowing mechanism.
One of the key features of Aave V2 is the ability to borrow funds using cryptocurrency as collateral. This process is known as "collateralized borrowing" and involves depositing a certain amount of cryptocurrency into a smart contract on the Aave platform. The user can then borrow a percentage of the deposited collateral value in the form of another cryptocurrency, known as the "borrowed asset."
The borrowing process on Aave V2 is highly flexible, with users able to choose their own borrowing terms, including the amount to borrow, the interest rate, and the duration of the loan. Interest rates on Aave V2 are determined by supply and demand dynamics, with rates fluctuating based on the availability of the borrowed asset.
Aave V2's borrowing mechanism is designed to be highly efficient, with users able to access their borrowed funds almost instantly. The protocol also offers a liquidation mechanism to help protect lenders from the potential loss of funds due to borrowers defaulting on their loans. Overall, Aave V2's borrowing feature provides a powerful tool for users looking to access liquidity or leverage their cryptocurrency holdings.
In this dashboard we will be diving deep into the borrowing activity of SNX, UNI, and MKR on Aave V2. In concrete, we will be utilizing data analysis techniques to calculate the number of unique borrowers and total cumulative borrow for each of these assets on Aave V2.
Additionally, we will be providing a visualization of the borrowing activity for each asset over time. By analyzing the borrowing activity of these assets, we can gain insights into the demand for borrowing these assets and how the market for these assets has evolved over time on Aave V2.
To accomplish this, we will use Flipside Crypto data to retrieve historical data on borrowing activity for SNX, UNI, and MKR. After filtering the data to only include borrow transactions, we will group the borrow transactions by the borrower address to calculate the number of unique borrowers for each asset.
Furthermore, we will be calculating the total cumulative borrow for each asset, which will give us an idea of the total value of each asset that has been borrowed on Aave V2 over time. Finally, we will visualize the borrowing activity for each asset over time using charts and graphs, which will help us understand how the borrowing activity for these assets has changed over time.

At the top of the dashboard, you will notice three parameters that can be used to obtain a personalized analysis for the token of your choice and the time period of your choice. These parameters include:
- Granularity: day, week, month or year
- Token: SNX, MKR or UNI
- Period: 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months or 1 year
By selecting a specific token and specifying a start and end date, you can obtain a personalized analysis of the borrowing activity for that particular token over the selected time period. This feature enables you to perform in-depth analysis and gain valuable insights into the borrowing trends and behavior of a particular asset on Aave V2.
This personalized analysis tab provides flexibility and customization options for users to conduct deeper analyses and understand how borrowing activity for a particular token has evolved over time. By exploring this tab, users can uncover trends, patterns, and behaviors that may be unique to a particular asset, which can provide valuable insights for traders, investors, and other stakeholders.
