Introduction

The Osmosis Labs team was a major contributor to the Osmosis Protocol (osmosis.zone). Osmosis is a first-of-its-kind automated market maker (AMM) that marks a foundational shift in how liquidity providers can benefit from Interchain DeFi. Osmosis allows users to compound yield by leveraging Osmosis’ novel innovation called Superfluid Staking; eliminates miner extractable value; and provides greater latitude for developers to innovate within DeFi given the flexibility of the Cosmos SDK.

Like most assets in the last two years, DOT saw a meteoric rise in 2021 followed by a crater in 2022. However, DOT there still remains a little bit of DOT liquidity and volume flowing through Osmosis.

Methods

The idea behind this chart is to analyze how DOT has been used on Osmosis over time, by analyzing several metrics over time in a daily, weekly and monthly basis.

To do a good comprehensive analysis, I have analyzed not only the axlDOT usage but also de OSMO/DOT pool 773 behavior.

The main metrics analyzed are:

• axlDOT swapping activity
• axlDOT transfer activity
• OSMO/DOT pool analysis

axlDOT swapping activity

In erterms of swapping, it seems that axlDOT is not dead yet. The amount of swaps seems to remained stable and the swaps to amount have been increasing over the last months. However, the amount of swappers decreased from August to October ¡, but now seems to remained stable during the past months.

ANother important think is that the axlDOT swappers have been increasing their activity on the network in both cases swaps from and swaps to amounts. As well, the axlDOT volume swapped increased during finals October and during the days of November when the FTX crashed.

The amount of transfershave been increased over time, and since December, the number has jumped., the same has occurred with the volume transferred.

However, we cannot say that there is a high volume of axlDOT being transferred because of the amount of transfers is not high neither. The average seems to be at around 10 daily, with an aggregate of less than 900.

Finally, looking at the average amount transferredm it can be seen how it oscillates depending of the period, but it seems that since the inpetion, the number has increased.

Pool #773 - DOT / OSMO

Finally, looking at the DOT pool #773, we can see how during the first months, only deposits were executed. However, over the past months, some withdrawals started to appear. It can be seen how the distribution of actions started to change and now there are more percentage of withdrawals than deposits.

Looking at the volume, we can see how in this case, the major volumes were in previous months. Even now it seems that is tarting to increase again, the withdrawals are doing the same as well. In fact, if we take alok at the net volume, we can see how it remained poositive during the major of the time but now it seems that the situation is changing.

Key insight
