What is the current distribution of LP size for each pool? You will have to use both 'add_liquidity' and 'remove_liquidity' to determine which LPs are stil current.
Introduction and methods
LP size distribution is a good metric to measure how popular a liquidity pool is in a certain platform and to see what are its adoption on it.
In this dashboard, we are gonna see the current distribution of LP size of each pool on Thorchain. To do that, we are gonna compute the total liquidity added - the total removed liquidity to determine the current LPs. Then, we will calculate the LP share of each pool among the whole TVL on Thorhcain.
Then, the main metrics we are gonna see are:
- Total value locked (TVL) for each Thorchain pool
- Distribution of Thorchain LP sizes by pool
- The Thorchain LPs distribution by different groups (Big pools, popular pools, unpopular pools and unknown pools)
- TVL vs LP share by each group
In the first chart, we can see the TVL of each Thorchain pool. THe top 3 pools in TVL are BTC.BTC, ETH.ETH and TERRA.LUNA, all of them with a TVL over 50M USD. It is curious to see TERRA.LUNA situated in the third position because of it is one the most recent pools added to Thorchain.
In terms of LP share, we can see the numbers in the second chart. Because of we have computed the whole TVL and splitted by each TVL pool, the final ranking is the same as the previous chart, leadered by BTC.BTC pool.
To see the distribution of the LPs in Thorchain, I have divided the previous pool sizes in 4 main groups:
- a. Big pools with more than 10% of the total share
- b. Popular pools between 1-10% of the total share
- c. Non-popular pools between 0.1-1% of the total share
- d. Unknown pools with less than 0.1% of the total share
As a result, we can see how out of the total 47 different pools in Thorchain, 17 of them are unknown pools having a share lower than 0.1%. 15 of them are non-popular pools, 12 are popular and 3 are big pools.
In the final chart, it can be seen how the most activity and the most volume are concentrated basically in the two first groups, representing pools with more than 1% of the total share.
Conclusion
In this dashboard we have studied te LP distribution on Thorchain. We have seen the TVL and the related LP share of each pool, determining that BTC.BTC, ETH.ETH and TERRA.LUNA are the most important ones. We have seen as well that these three main pools have been catalogued as "Big pools" having more than 10% of the total share each of them. There are 12 popular pools on Thorchian with between 1 and 10% of the total LP share, while the rest of the 47 have less than 1% of the total share. However, the most of the activity are concentrated in the two first groups.
