Introduction

NEAR Protocol is a proof-of-stake public blockchain with smart contract capability that aims to act as a community-managed cloud computing platform. In this dashboard we are gonna track the active users on the platform in order to see who would the citizens be if NEAR were a city.

    Methodology

To be able to track the new users on NEAR protocol, I have defined a new user as a user who have transacted for the first time at least once in the past 30 days. Once defined, I have computed the number of daily new active users over the past 30 days. Finally, I have computed as well the number of actions done by each users and which type of method_name are using the most.

In the first chart we can see the number of daily new users joining NEAR. We can see how the number remained constant over time but increased during a short period of time from April 24th to May 2nd. During that time, the amount of new daily users exceeded the 10k.

As well, we can see the number of new users since the past month. The number is above around 5M, which represents a great amount.

In the second chart we can see the number of actions done by these new users by each type of actions, and in the third image we can see the same but considering the cumulative numbers. Here we can see the difference between some actions and others in terms of popularity.

In fact, in the final chart, we can see the top 10 type of actions by number of uses. The top 3 most popular actions are:

    • Ft transfers
    • L2 claims
    • Claims

    Conclusions

    • The number of new users remained constant over time but increased during a short period of time from April 25th to May 2nd.
    • A tlmost 5M unique users joined NEAR for the first time over the past 30 days.
