Swap Fees
Do fees on Osmosis differ when users swap to or from different tokens? On average, which tokens have the highest and lowest swap fees on Osmosis?
Introduction and methods
Osmosis is a network, developed through the Cosmos SDK (software development kit), using the infrastructure provided by this giant, which seeks to be a bridge between the different blockchains of this ecosystem. In addition, it provides service to projects connected through the Interblockchain Communication Protocol (IBC).
In this dashboard we are gonna analyze the swap fees on Osmosis. To do that, we will explore the different fees when users swap to or from different tokens. As well, we will try to determine which tokens have the highest and lowest swap fees on Osmosis.
In this first chart we can see the fees of each token in both terms, when someone tries to swap to and swap from. Looking at the results obtained, on the one hand, we can see that there are some tokens that show higher fees in both directions (in particular Axelar tokens), and others than show lower fees such as LUM, L1, BLOCK... On the other hand, it can be seen as well that there are tokens that show different fees when a user swaps to vs from. For example, wETH and wBTC on Axelar show higher fees when users swap from the token to other token and when users swap to these tokens, the fees are the half.
Finally, I have plotted two main donuts. The first one shows the top 10 tokens by the average highest transaction fee considering both swaps from and to, while the second one shows the top 10 tokens by the lowest average transaction fees.
We can see how the tokens with the higher fees are Axelar tokens as said before. As well, EVMOS is one of the tokens with the highest fees. Stablecoins also are in the top 10. The fees ranges from 0.003 to 0.0007 OSMO.
About the tokens with the lower fees, we can see that LUM, DVPN, KRTC, BLOCK, L1, NGM, BCNA, DAI.grv, MED and EEUR are the top 10 tokens. In this case, the average fees ranges from 0.00009 to 0.000015 OSMO.
Conclusions
In this dashboard we have studied the swap fees on Osmosis network. We have explored the different fees by each token swapped and considering both swap to and swap from.
The key insights extracted from the analysis are:
- There are some tokens that show higher fees in both directions (in particular Axelar tokens), and others than show lower fees such as LUM, L1, BLOCK...
- There are tokens that show different fees when a user swaps to vs from. For example, wETH and wBTC on Axelar show higher fees when users swap from the token to other token and when users swap to these tokens, the fees are the half.
- The tokens with the higher fees are Axelar tokens, as well as EVMOS. Stablecoins also are in the top 10. The fees ranges from 0.003 to 0.0007 OSMO.
- LUM, DVPN, KRTC, BLOCK, L1, NGM, BCNA, DAI.grv, MED and EEUR are the tokens with the lowest fees. In this case, the average fees ranges from 0.00009 to 0.000015 OSMO.
