Polygon Block Performance

What is the average time between blocks on Polygon?

What is the average time between blocks on Polygon?

in this post we are going to find out:

    1. What is the average time between blocks on Polygon?
    2. What was the maximum and minimum recorded time between two blocks?
    3. How many transactions are done in a block on average?
    4. How do these numbers compare to L1 such as Flow or Solana, or other L2 such as Arbitrum or Optimism?

Here in this post we are going to check on Polygon’s blocks and see what is the average time between them in over time and then we will see what is the maximum recorded and the minimum recorded time between them and also we will compare these results with both Flow and Optimism network each in section. first we will see what is the average time between blocks on Polygon, Flow and Optimism in over time.

Down here there is a graph that is showing the average time between blocks for these three networks.

As you can see in the above graph, The Optimism network had less than 1.3 number in most days on its period and that means it there s less than 1.3 seconds between each block on average for this network.

For the Flow network we can see in most days its number is above 1.4 and that means on average there is 1.4 difference for the next block to be created.

Now let’s look at the Polygon. you can see that in all days of its period, its number is more than 2 and that means there is more than 2 seconds difference for the next block creation on average and this is the highest difference between the block in these comparison.

Not than we saw about the difference of time block’s creation, let’s see what is the maximum recorded time between these blocks for each three networks in above.

Down here there is a graph that is showing the maximum recorded time between these blocks for Flow, Optimism and Polygon in their period (this time this numbers are not in average).

For the last this that we want to check, down here there is a chart that is showing the average number of transactions that each blocks of these three networks had in over time.

As you can see in the above graph, Flow network has the highest difference time between its blocks with 90 seconds and it is the highest difference time in compare to the two other networks in the graph.

after than we can see Optimism had 58 seconds time recorded as its maximum time difference between its blocks.

and the Polygon has the less difference between these three n networks with 25 seconds as the highest difference time between its block’s creation time.

Now that we have looked at the maximum difference time between these three networks let’s see how about the minimum difference time for their block’s creation time is.

As you can see in the above graph, Optimism and Flow network had 0 number as their lowest time recorded as their minimum time creation between blocks but this number is not exactly zero, this is a number that is so close to the zero so this table shows it with 0.

Polygon has 2 seconds as its minimum recorded time between its block’s creation.

As you can see in the above graph, Optimism has the lowest number of transactions in its blocks with 1 transactions on average and after than we have Flow network with almost 10 and some days 30 transactions on its blocks on average as the second place but the Polygon had the highest number of transactions on its blocks with more than 60 transactions in its blocks on average.

You can see it better in the bottom graph that is showing the same result but this time in a normalized graph.

As you can see in the above graph, before the 6th of Jun 2022 Flow had all the transactions but after that when Polygon and Flow are coming into the game, Polygon gets more than 80% of total transactions in compare to the other networks and this percentage for the flow is less than 30%.

Optimism has less than 1% of these transections in this period.

So we did checked on the Polygon’s blocks and we saw what is the average time between them in over time and then we did saw what is the maximum recorded and the minimum recorded time between them and then we compared these results with two other L1 and L2 blockchain.
