Estimating Wallet Sizes and Wallet Activity by SOL Transfer Sizes and SOL Transaction Frequencies

Based on the average amount of SOL transferred per transaction, compromised wallets are classified into 6 categories:

    • Shrimp - Less than 1 SOL
    • Fish - 1 to 10 SOL
    • Dolphin - 10 to 100 SOL
    • Shark - 100 to 1,000 SOL
    • Whale - 1,000 to 10,000 SOL
    • Humpback Whale - More than 10,000 SOL

For SOL transaction frequencies, wallets are classified into 4 categories, based on their number of SOL transactions performed since January 1st :

    • Hibernate - Less than 5 SOL Transactions
    • Sleep - 5 to 20 SOL Transactions
    • Nap - 21 to 50 SOL Transactions
    • Awake - More than 50 SOL Transactions

Estimating Wallet Sizes and Wallet Activity by USDC Transfer Sizes and USDC Transaction Frequencies

Compromised wallets are classified into 6 categories based on their average amount of USDC transferred per transaction :

    • Shrimp - Less than 100 USDC

    • Fish - 100 to 1,000 USDC

    • Dolphin - 1,000 to 10,000 USDC

    • Shark - 10,000 to 100,000 USDC

    • Whale - 100,000 to 1,000,000 USDC

    • Humpback Whale - More than 1,000,000 USD

For USDC transaction frequencies, wallets are classified into 4 categories, based on their number of USDC transactions performed since January 1st :

    • Hibernate - Less than 5 USDC Transactions
    • Sleep - 5 to 20 USDC Transactions
    • Nap - 21 to 50 USDC Transactions
    • Awake - More than 50 USDC Transactions

    Wallet Sizes

    1. Majority of the wallets belong in the Fish category, with average transfer sizes ranging from 1 to 10 SOL or 100 to 1,000 USDC.
    2. This is followed by wallets that fall into the Shrimp category, which have average transfer sizes of less than 1 SOL or 1,000 USDC.
    3. It appears that the SOL and USDC transfer sizes of compromised wallets are rather small, with less than 15% of them falling into the Dolphin category or higher (with average transfer sizes of 10 SOL or 1,000 USDC and above).

    Wallet Activity

    1. The majority of the wallets fall into the Hibernate category, indicating that the majority of the compromised wallets performed fewer than 5 SOL or USDC transactions in 2022.
    2. This implies that many of the compromised wallets have been inactive since January 1st, 2022.

Bello. Not sure if Phantom swaps is still needed?

Wallets that do not execute SOL and USDC transactions are not included in the estimating wallet sizes analysis (since they will reduce average wallet sizes), but are considered in the analysis of wallet activity (in category with least activity).
