    RUNE bonded + slashed amounts

    THORChain uses a variation of Proof of Stake (PoS) which is called Proof of Bond. So, $RUNE can either be bonded by node operators or can be pooled by normal users like us. One can become a node operator by bonding >1M $RUNE. So the total value of $RUNE bonded and pooled will equal to total value of locked for THORChain. In this dashboard, we will analyze the amount of $RUNE bonded by the node operators and also the amount of $RUNE slashed.

    First, let's take a look at the historical amount of bonded $RUNE on the THORChain network. We can that at the most, 232M of $RUNE are bonded. The total number have been increasing. This shows that the number of node operators has also increased.

    Total number of $RUNE bonded has to be more than the $RUNE pooled so that the node operators would less likely to hack the network. As shown in graph below, we can see that the bonded $RUNE has always been around 70%-83% of total $RUNE available.

    Graph below shows the total $RUNE bonded and total $RUNE that has been slashed thus far. Currently, total of 253K $RUNE has been slashed out of total 225M $RUNE bonded. That is like 0.11% of bonded $RUNE.

    In conclusion, the total $RUNE slashed is at 0.11% of total $RUNE bonded. And ratio of $RUNE bonded to pooled are at 77-23 which is at a very safe ratio.
