    Introduction

DAOs continue to grow as a model for community organizing, as a means to quickly raise and distribute money for social causes or to decentralize blockchain-based protocols. \n Decentralized autonomous organizations use a shared treasury, smart contracts (programs that run once criteria are met) and voting tokens. \n \n The first DAO, called "The DAO," was launched on Ethereum in 2016. While it is possible to set up a DAO on any blockchain that supports smart contracts, most of them run on Ethereum.

SafeDAO's main objective is to ensure that the airdrops performed on the blockchain do so securely. For this reason, one of the important parts to carry it out are the miners, who are in charge of making sure that the network works correctly.

    Methods

For this reason, in this dashboard we are going to use different characteristics that will give us a global vision of how these miners act and in which conditions to see which are the safest moments of the network. So the metrics calculated in this analysis are the following.

    • Minimum, maximum, average transactions per block.
    • Total number per blocks.
    • Distinct miners.
    • Number of active miners over time.
    • Number of blocks over time.
    • Type of minters contribution over time.
    • Number of miners per transactions per block.

As we can see in these tables, the minimum number of transactions per block is 1 and the maximum is 1431. In addition, the median number of transactions per block is 123 and the total number of blocks is 13.9M. Finally, we have extracted that the total number of different miners that have worked is 4650.

In the first graph we have analyzed the active miners during 2015 to date. We can see that when they started, the number of active miners went up to almost 1000 but in 2026 it plummeted. It has been decreasing and today remains stable, reaching approximately 75 active miners.

In the graph above we see that during 2016 the number of blocks was lower than it is today. Since 2018 it has remained very stable.

Finally, on the left we see a table showing the minimum, maximum and median number of transactions per block. We see that the maximum number of transactions has always been a remarkable difference. In August 2021 the maximum number of transactions per block rose dramatically and has been maintained.

In the graph on the left we can see that the activity of miners is more active when block transactions are lower. Therefore, when there are many block transactions, there are fewer active miners.

    Key insight

    • the minimum number of transactions per block is 1 and the maximum is 1431.

    • the median number of transactions per block is 123 and the total number of blocks is 13.9M.

    • the total number of different miners that have worked is 4650.

    • The active miners in 2015 went up to almost 1000, then it plummeted.

    • Today, the active miners remains stable, reaching 75 active miners.

    • The number of blocs on 2016 was lower that it is today and it is very stable.

    • the maximum number of transactions has always been a remarkable difference between minimum transactions.

    • Activity miners is more active when and when there are many block transactions. So, when there are many block transactions, there are fewer active miners.

      \

These two graphs show the number of miners per transaction per block. As we have already mentioned, the less transactions there are, the more active the miners are. This can be seen in the graphs. When there are between 2-10 transactions, there are more than 2k active miners. On the other hand, when there are more than 1k transactions, we can only see 40 active miners.
