    Introduction

Astroport is the leading Decentralized Exchange (DEX) on the Terra ecosystem in terms of total value locked. Since the launch in December 2021, the protocol currently has about $1.8B in TVL. The native token of Astroport is the ASTRO token. There will be a maximum supply of one billion ASTRO tokens and these tokens were allocated as illustrated by the chart below: (source)

In this dashboard, we will focus on how many ASTRO currently have been paid out to liquidity providers on the protocol. We can see in the chart above that 49% of all ASTRO tokens are allocated as rewards to LP providers. This is equal to 490M ASTRO tokens.

Using the Astroport LP Emission table, we can see that 100M ASTRO tokens are available to liquidity providers in the first year (Dec 2021-Dec 2022).

    Methodology

We will estimate how much ASTRO has been paid out to liquidity providers by looking at how much ASTRO has been paid by the Astroport Generator contract.

    1. Find all reward transactions using the contract address of the Astroport Generator: terra1zgrx9jjqrfye8swykfgmd6hpde60j0nszzupp9 and "0_action" = 'withdraw'.
    2. Combine generator_astro_reward and astro_reward_received into total_reward
    3. Filter out transactions from Bootstrap Auction contract address: "0_contract_address" != 'terra1tvld5k6pus2yh7pcu7xuwyjedn7mjxfkkkjjap'
    4. Calculate the sum of total_reward by date and calculate cumulative rewards paid.

From the graph above, we can see that a total of almost 20M ASTRO tokens have been paid out to liquidity providers.

When looking at the percentage of the 100M ASTRO tokens available for the first year, we can see that about 20% of the tokens have been paid out. If we compare this to the percentage of the year that has passed, which is about 30%, we can conclude that we are a little behind on the emission schedule. That is of course if the emission were meant to be linearly distributed throughout the year.

    Key findings

    • About 20M ASTRO tokens have been paid out to liquidity providers from the Generator.
    • These 20M ASTRO tokens are 20% of the 100M total ASTRO tokens available for the first year.
    • If the emissions schedule is meant to be linear, we are about 10% behind schedule as 30% of the first year has already passed.
