This dashboard aims to provide insight into the distribution of LUNA among wallets that have made at least one transaction in the past 90 days.
Definition of 'active'
First of all, we define what an 'active' wallet means in this dashboard. In this dashboard, an active wallet is defined as a wallet that has made at least one transaction in the past 90 days that utilizes an MsgExecuteContract. Terra uses over 50 different Msg types in their data, all with different purposes. In order to get literally all transactions made on Terra for the last 90 days, we would have to analyse all 50 different Msg types. This was unfeasible. Therefore, we settled on transactions that use the MsgExecuteContract. This Msg type includes almost all transactions, as it contains information on transactions where a smart contract was executed. Action examples include: sending, depositing, minting, borrowing, voting, selling and swapping.
The graphs and numbers below are based on addresses that performed at least one of those actions in the last 90 days.
Conclusion
As can be expected, most of the LUNA is held by the lucky few. Over 60% of all 'active' LUNA is held by the top 10 addresses. However, not all addresses in the top 10 are addresses of real users. Some addresses, like the top address, are platform wallets that contain the funds of a lot of users. Looking at the distribution of LUNA among individual users, not platform wallets, can be an interesting bounty for the future.
Now that we have defined 'active', we can start to look at the distribution of LUNA among active wallets. In order to be able to provide a distribution, we need the total amount of LUNA that is held (staked or liquid) by these active wallets:
Using this total, we can calculate the distribution. First, we will look at how much of this total is held by the top 100 active addresses:
Zooming in, we look at the percentage of this total is held by the top 10 active addresses:
Finally, we look at the individual addresses in the top 10 and how much each address holds in terms of percentage of the total. The largest wallet, with over 25% of the 'active' LUNA, is Anchor! Specifically, it is the bLUNA hub addresses link.
