Terra Console 2.0

This dashboard aims to provide suggestions for additional information that could be displayed in a Terra dashboard. We will look at data and non-data suggestions as well as existing dashboards that provide excellent information.

    Introduction

Dashboards provide a one-stop shop for users to stay informed and up-to-date on an ecosystem. Dashboards usually provide a variety of charts that indicate the current state of the ecosystem. These include metrics like the price of the native token, volume, active users etc. Terra has a nice dashboard included in its wallet: the Terra Station. However, the information provided in this dashboard is quite limited. It currently provides information like the price of LUNA, transaction volume, staking return, number of wallets to name the majority. I think more metrics are needed to provide a more complete picture of the state of the Terra ecosystem. Therefore, we will provide a number of suggestions for metrics that could be added to the dashboard. These suggestions include data and non-data information. Finally, we will also look at two excellent third party dashboards for the Terra ecosystem.

    Existing Dashboards

Next, we will look at existing third-party dashboards that already display some of the current suggestions above.

    - Smart Stake Dashboard

This dashboard made by validator Smart Stake, provides much of the data suggestions mentioned above. UST total supply (same as marketcap as 1 UST = $1), Circulating supply of LUNA and staking ratio over time are all included in the dashboard. I do not like the interface as much, but the information provided is really good.

    Suggestions

Now we will address possible additions to the existing Terra station dashboard.

    - Active users across Terra

This metric will display the daily amount of active users on Terra. Active can have multiple definitions here. For instance, at least one transaction, or 5 transactions or 10 transactions. Ideally, a slider will be included for the number of transactions per user.

    - UST Marketcap

The market cap of UST indicates the demand for the UST stablecoin, which is a vital part of the Terra ecosystem.

    - Circulating Supply of LUNA

Along with the UST market cap, we can display the circulating supply of LUNA. These two metrics are closely related as LUNA has to be burned in order to mint UST. Therefore, the circulating supply of LUNA will go down as the market cap of UST increases.

    - Staking ratio over time

The Terra Station currently does show the staking ratio, but there is no chart to show this figure over time. The staking ratio indicates how much of the total supply of LUNA is staked, which is an indicator for trust in the LUNA coin, as LUNA cannot be sold once it is staked. Showing the staking ratio over time will provide context for the current ratio compared to ratios in the past.

    - Number of protocols

Terra's succes is determined by the protocols that run on top of it. Therefore, the number of protocols is an important metric.

    - TVL of each protocol

For each protocol on Terra, the Total Value Locked (TVL) can give further insight into the protocols on Terra. This figure is an important metric for growth of the ecosystem and individual protocols.

    - Number of active users per protocol

Finally, the number of active users per protocol can be displayed. Ideally, the number of transactions needed in order to be 'active' can be controlled through a slider.

    - Messari.io Dashboard

Messari is webside that provides dashboards for a number of ecosystems. For Terra, 9 charts are included divided into three catogories: market, supply and social. The market category contains charts that display information like price, volume, marketcap dominance etc. The supply category contains the circulating supply chart. Messari even includes social charts where the number of Twitter followers and Telegram users are displayed.

    Non-date suggestions

Along the with data information suggested above, non-data information can be of great value as well.

    - Calander for new protocols launching on Terra

This calander would include the forecasted dates for new protocols to launch on Terra. For protocols that are closer to the launch date, this calendar could also include launch information like locking dates for lockdrops.

    - Calander for new NFTs launching on Terra NFT markets

Terra's NFT space is still quite early, and this could be nice way to draw some attention to new Terra NFT projects. This calander would include the minting dates for new NFT projects launching on marketplaces like RandomEarth and Knowhere Art.

    - Active proposals

Governance is an important aspect of Terra, as it allows users to have a say in the future of the Terra network. This section of the dashboard could be dedicated to displaying active proposals for governance, which hopefully will increase participation.
