Polygon Block Performance

What is the average time between blocks on Polygon?

    Introduction

Polygon, formerly known as the Matic Network, is a scaling solution that aims to provide multiple tools to improve the speed and reduce the cost and complexities of transactions on blockchain networks.

In this dashboard, we gathered some data about the block performance of polygon and compare it with other blockchains.

    Methodology

Since this dashboard is about some information about blocks so we use fact_blocks tables in different blockchains to compare the performance and effeciency of each blockchain.

For each network, we use the fact_transaction table to calculate the number of transactions per block.

In this comparison, we will use the Algorand network and the Arbutrum L2 network of Ethereum for comparison.

    Results

We present our findings with visualizations in this section.

The first chart shows the daily average time between blocks of three differrent network. the data for Algorand starts form early of 2022 year and the data for polygon and Arbitrum starts from june.

Throughout the time, Algorand's average time is approximately 4.35 seconds every day.

This parameter usually takes around one second for Arbitrum.

In polygons, the average time between blocks was around 2.3 seconds.

as shown in the chart the value of the average time between blocks for Algorand network is 4.36 sec, this value for Polygon is 2.25 sec, and for Arbitrum is 0.9 sec.

In Arbitrum, most blocks contain only one transaction, which explains the lower average time.

The following chart shows the maximum interval between blocks of these three networks.

the highest value related to Arbitrum network with 247 sec.

Algorand and Polygon have the same maximum time between blocks of 25 seconds.

In the left table you can see the summrize of all data

The results show that the minimum interval for the polygon is 2 seconds.

This parameter appears as zero for Algorand and Arbitrum.

    Transactions

In this section we explian the results about transaction in blocks.

the below charts shows the average and minimum value for transactions per block.

the average transactions per block for polygon is higher than Algorand and Arbitrum(76 transactions per block).

Arbitrum average transactions per block is the lowest value(1.16 transactions per block).

Algorand average transaction per block is 54 transactions per block.

the minimum transaction per block for all three networks is the same and value is 1 trasnaction per block.

Algorand has the highest transaction per block with 4998 transactions in one block that is almost four time higher than polygon

Poygon maximum transactions per block is 1332 transactions.

Arbitrum has the lowets value for the maximum transactions in one block and amount of it is 128 transactions in one block.
