    Introduction

    • Optimism (OP) is a layer-two blockchain on top of Ethereum. Optimism benefits from the security of the Ethereum mainnet and helps scale the Ethereum ecosystem by using optimistic rollups. That means transactions are trustlessly recorded on Optimism but ultimately secured on Ethereum.

      \

    • A blockchain bridge is a connection that allows tokens and/or arbitrary data to be transferred from one chain to another. Both chains may have different protocols, rules, and governance models, but the bridge provides a secure way for both chains to interoperate.

      \

    • In this dashboard, we want to study about the bridge from Optimism blockchain to ethereum and vice versa in terms of the parameters mentioned in the methology section.

      \

    The question

What is the volume of ETH and three stablecoins of your choice that's moved between the Optimism network and the Ethereum network across the bridge?

    👀 Observation

    • The number of bridges from Ethereum to Optimism is equal to 82.7k, which is much more than Optimism to Ethereum with 5k bridges.
    • The number of users who have bridged from Ethereum to Optimism is 63.4k and from Optimism to Ethereum is 2.4k.
    • The volume of bridges from Ethereum to Optimism is equal to 1.85B, which is much higher than Optimism to Ethereum with 1B .
    • Most bridges from Ethereum to Optimism are between $10 and $100(%29).
    • Bridges with an amount more than $100,000 have the smallest share in bridges from Ethereum to Optimism.
    • Most bridges from Optimism to Ethereum are between $10000 and $100000(%31.8).
    • Bridges with an amount less than $10 have the smallest share in bridges from Optimism to Ethereum.

    **👀 Observation **

    • From Ethereum to Optimism :
      • The number of bridges has been increasing from January to April, but has decreased significantly in the months after April except October.

      • The total volume of bridges increased from January to August, but decreased in the months after August.

      • The largest number of bridges was in April and the largest volume was in August.

    • From Optimism to Ethereum :
      • The number of bridges has been decreasing from January to May, but has increased after May.
      • The total volume of bridges increased from January to August, but decreased in the months after August.
      • The largest number of bridges and the largest volume was in August.

    👀 Observation :

    • USDC is the most used stablecoin in bridges from Ethereum to Optimism and vice versa, both in terms of the number of bridges and the volume of bridges.
    • In terms of the number of bridges, USDT ranks second in bridges from Ethereum to Optimism and LUSD ranks second in bridges from Optimism to Ethereum.
    • In terms of the volume of bridges, USDT ranks second in bridges from Ethereum to Optimism and LUSD ranks second in bridges from Optimism to Ethereum.

    Methology

    • In the first part of the dashboard, we analyze the following parameters:

    1-Total number of bridges

2-Total volume of bridges ( in USD )

    3-Total number of unique users

4-Distribition of usd value of bridges

    • In the second part of the dashboard, we analyze the following parameters :

1- Monthly number of bridges/number of unique users/volume of bridges

2- Cumulative number of bridges/number of unique users/volume of bridges

3- Distribition of usd value of bridges (Monthly)

    • In the third part, we perform our analyzes in more detail based on the parameters of the first and second parts of the dashboard, for some assets that have been transferred between these two blockchains.
