WHAT IS OSMOSIS?

Osmosis is a DEX protocol, which means it uses smart contracts to determine the price of digital assets, to produce liquidity via a peer-to-peer (P2P) methodology, and to exact trades between users. This approach to an exchange platform is known as an AMM — a DEX protocol that prices crypto assets in liquidity pools.

WHAT IS DAU?

Daily Active Users, or DAU, is the measurement of the number of users who are active on an app or website each day. It is a tool used to measure the success of an online product or website. The higher the DAU, the more “sticky” or successful a website or product is viewed.

FINDINGS

If we classify the transactions of DAUs according to their activities, we see that the most common transactions were swap transactions. A total of 15.6M swap transactions were made. And the swap transaction takes up 46.2 percent of this pie. Then it is followed by the transfer transactions. Among the transfer transactions, 'transfer from osmosis' prevents 'transfer to osmosis' with 6.4M transactions.

FINDINGS

On the side, we see how often the daus transfer. To explain, there have been uninterrupted transfers since 2021 Jun 14, but they have had periods of increase and decrease. The highest increase period is the week of March 21. The second highest increase period is the week of Jun 20. The most visible decrease period was experienced in the period between July and August.

When we classify Dau's according to their activities, we see that swap activity has the most DAU, with exactly 1.5M people, it has managed to occupy 27.3 percent of the pie.

Followed by transfers. Among the transfers, the 'transfer from osmosis' activity comes first. It also occupies 22.2 percent with 1.2M users.

The activity with the least dau is the lp activity.

FINDINGS

When we come to the weekly transaction numbers, we see a strong increase in the week of March 21. The 'transfer from osmosis' action came first, followed by the 'transfer to osmosis' action. This week has been transfer week.

We see that all Daus increased at most during the week of March 7th. The most increased activity on this date was again the swap activity. Then it is followed by 'transfer to osmosis'. In the week of June 6, we see a crash in all Daus. The image of the news I found about June 6 is attached.

In the tables above you can see the classification of the trading volumes of the dau's. I divided the transaction size into 6 classes and the first segment among them is 'between 20 and 50'. This segment has a total of 67.4K users and occupies 22.9 percent of all segments. Followed by the 'between 1 and 10' segment. The number of users of this segment is 63.987.

As we mentioned before, we see an increase at DAUs in March.

The reason for the increase in March may be the superfluid staking update.

Total DAU number on osmosis is 2.68M.

DAUs make up 62.3 percent of all users. NON-DAU number is 1.619M

In the table on the side, we see the weekly daily active user and inactive users of all time. The date when both categories increase is early 2022. With the help of the Area table, we can see that the increase rate of DAUs is much higher than the others, but they move with the same parallelism in both categories. Also, the most DAUs were earned in the last week of March.

The most transferred token was the osmo token with 1.4M transactions. And osmo token occupies 79.6 percent of all tokens with this value.

On the right, there is a table showing where the transfers come from. I listed the top 10 projects in this table. Where the most transfers come from is 'BOOT' and the total number of transactions is 101,994. It occupies about 45 percent by itself. After that, the ‘ATOM’ takes a place 17.9 percentage by 41.5K.

When we compare the weekly lp and swap transactions of the dau, we see that the swap transactions are quite high compared to the lp transactions. In particular, this difference peaked on May 9. The dates with the smallest difference between them are between January and April.

On the left you see the DAUs with the highest number of transactions. The 'osmo1shd5ael9e96h7pvypjqp03rdtr8v4tau9ng9pk' wallet alone made 646k transactions.

In the above table, we see a significant increase in the number of transactions in July. I did a little research on this and discovered that there were a total of 3 updates to osmosis in July. These updates are related to staking. In other words, the increase in the number of transactions in July was mostly thanks to the stakers.
