Polygon Block Performance

In this dashboard we’re gonna compare the times between the block generation on different blockchains, as well as the number of transactions each block has. The networks we’ll compare are Polygon, Flow, Solana, Arbitrum and Optimism. Here’s the charts.

These charts show the min, max and average seconds between each two blocks on each network from June.

For the min time between blocks we have Polygon that had the highest time as minimum between the two blocks. It shows the minimum of 2 seconds separation between 2 blocks, while the other chains has less time. The time between two blocks on other chains are below a second, and that’s why we see 0 for them in the first chart.

For the max time between blocks we see that Arbitrum has a 1728 seconds difference between two blocks which is the highest between all. Polygon shows a 8 second at max which is the second lowest after Flow that has 5 second at max.

Considering the average time between two blocks, Polygon with 2.3 seconds has the highest time between two blocks. Flow is after that with 1.3 seconds between two blocks. Solana is the fastest in producing blocks. It create a new block every 0.72 second, and Optimism is following that with 0.79 second between two block.

Now let’s see that each block includes how many transactions.

As the chart shows Solana has the highest number of transaction on each block. It has around 2.048k transactions on each block.

With a lot less transactions, Polygon is the second. Each block on Polygon include around 75 transactions. Other chains have even fewer number of transactions on each block. For example, Flow has only 16 transactions on each block.

This number for Arbitrum is around 1.16 transactions on a block, and 1 transaction per block for Optimism.
