What Will You Read?

In this analysis, You will read about Thor node slashing. We want to know which nodes have been slashed the most, and why did they got slashed? (Maybe some event across the entire chain). Are there nodes that got slashed for more than they have earned (RUNE and USD)?

What is a node?

THORNodes service the THORChain network. Each THORNode is comprised of several independent servers in a cluster. All THORNodes communicate and operate in cooperation to create a cross-chain swapping network.

Method

First I used slash point table to find which Node slashed most. Then I joined to slash amount and looking for rune and USD assets to find are they slashed for more than they have earned or not.

Top 20 Slashed Nodes

• The below chart shows the Top 20 nodes that slashed the most.
• A node with 509K slash points is in the first place.
• The second one is one with 324K slash points.
• The third one has 281K slash points.
• All top 20 Nodes have above 100K slash points.

Daily Slash points based on Top 20 slashed Nodes.

• Most slashed points occurred in November 2021 and April 2022.
• Only in one day, A node got 291K slash points.
• On November 18th, Most nodes got slash points.

Slashed Reason

• 90% of slashed points happened because of Fall to sign out tx after 300 blocks.
• 4.89% of slash points were Fail Keygen.
• 4.35% of slash points were Fail Keysign.

Node Status based on Rune asset

• It seems most Nodes gain more than slashed based on Rune asset.

According to the below chart, Most nodes slashed more than they earned based on USD assets.

Conclusion

• The reason that nodes are slashed is Fall to sign out tx after 300 blocks.
• A node has about 500K slash points.
• IN Rune asset, They earned more than slashed.
• In USD assets, They slashed more than earned.
