What is a Crypto Bridge?

A crypto bridge (also known as a cross-chain bridge) is a tool that gives you the power to transfer digital assets and information from one blockchain to another. Interoperability has long been a pain point in blockchain technology.

What is Hop?

Hop protocol is a mechanism for transferring tokens over a shared layer 1 network quickly and without trust. It provides customers with a two-pronged token bridge for Ethereum's layer 2 network. The solution aims to facilitate the rapid movement of a token between layer 2 and a scaling solution's governance token.

What is Across?

Across is a cross-chain bridge for L2s and rollups secured by UMA's optimistic oracle. It is optimized for capital efficiency with a single liquidity pool, a competitive relayer landscape, and a no-slippage fee model.

Methodology

in this dashboard, we are looking to see the activity of the Across Airdrop. Additionally, we are looking to see how the activity of the Hop bridge compares to the across-the-bridge on Ethereum. The data for this dashboard will come from the ethereum.core tables of Flipside’s database.

Observations

• Most of the Airdrop claimers and claim volume happen in the first hour of the airdrop being live
• All of the Airdrops over 80K tokens happened right when the airdrop started
• In total there was 3.59M ACX airdropped to 946 wallets
• Somebody has claimed an airdrop each hour since the start of the airdrop

Hop Activity on Ethereum

Across Activity on Ethereum

Observations

• Each day there are between 1 and 3 Million Inflows and out flow of Hop on Ethereum
• Currently, there are about 35 Million in Hop TVL
• most users are sending ETH and USDC using hop

Observations

• Each day there are between 5 and 20 Million Inflows and outflow of Across on Ethereum
• Since May 2020 over 600 million of value has been sent out of Ethereum using Across
• Ethereum and USDC are the most popular tokens on Across
