Introduction

In this dashboard, we will examine the performance of blocks on Polygon.

Polygon is a Layer 2 solution that works atop the Ethereum platform and Increasing the block time ensure the reliability and stability of the chain.

Approach

In this dashboard, we will use Flipside's core.fact_blocks tables of Polygon, Flow, Solana, Arbitrum and Optimism to track the block performance

of this chains and compared them to each other.

Key Points

• On Polygon, the average time between blocks is 2.3 seconds,

This time is at lease 50% more compared to other blockchains we investigate.

• Transactions on average per block on Polygon is 74 number,

  This amount is to much compared to Optimism, Flow and Arbitrum but

  So much low as well when we differentiate with Solana blockchain which has average transactions of 1,747.

In this section we will b looking into the number of transactions in a block on Polygon network and compare it with other chains.

So far, Maximum transactions number that ever happened and have done in a block on Polygon is 1,332 transactions.

Minimum number is 0 and average number of transactions is 74.9 txs.

Daily below chart shows the minimum, maximum and average transactions number that have done in a block over time.

The appearance of the chart shows ups and downs on maximum part but total pattern showing a decrease.

Minimum number of transactions are fixed to 0 and hasn’t change over time.

Highest value of average transactions number in a block be owned by Solana.

This network complete 1,747 transactions in a block on average, After this chain Polygon has the most average by 74.9 transactions.Lowest value belongs to Optimism by 1 transaction.

Minimum transactions number in a block on all chains is zero except Optimism with 1 transaction.

On maximum part, Solana took 7,597 as the highest amount of transactions in a block between all chains. Polygon Maximum transactions is 1,332 followed by Flow chain with 435 transaction and Arbitrum by 128.

According to Flipside's core.fact_blocks tables of Polygon , Minimum time between blocks is 2 seconds.

and so far, highest time that took to create blocks is 25 seconds that happened on Jul 4 with obvious sharp spike in the daily above graph.

Average time of creation is 2.2 seconds which is increasing slowly and can be seen on daily chart that was 2.18 on Jun 6 and reached to 2.48 seconds over the past day.

Minimum time of creation between blocks is 2 seconds which was steady and can be seen on daily chart.

Over the past month this value never get below 2 seconds.

Compare charts of time blocks demonstrated in below. This charts helps to find a good perspective of times between blocks on other netwroks.

Average time of Polygon 2.24 is the highest amount between 5 networks, shortest average time belongs to Solana by 0.66 seconds.

On the other hand maximum and minimum times between blocks declared Polygon as the best blokchain among all chains followed by Optimism.
