Optimistic Bears
70% of transactions are involved with layer2 while 15% of the total share belongs to defi and 10% for dex while less than 5% for nft.
In terms of both number of users and number of swaps the 3 most swapped assets on Optimism are HOP-usdc, HOP-eth, and the OP token. all of the tokes have over 6,000 swappers executing over 40,000 transactions. About half of all the top assets in use on Optimism were bridged from Ethereum to Optimism.
Conclusion
The most popular assets on Optimism other than the native token are stablecoins weth. The users swapping the hop tokens on Optimism currently make up abput 80% of the wallets swapping on the platform. Users swapping on Optimism are much more active than their counterparts one reason for this could be due to the low gass fees for swapping.
Since July, we have had 3.8 million successful transactions and 406k unsuccessful transactions. In other words, 96% of the transactions were successful
- Total number of transactions on Optimism has about 3.57M transaction in july. In 29 july Optimism had most amount of daily transaction with about 271K.
- Total volume of Optimism has about 1.25M ETH since july.
- Optimism Has about 230k wallets that still had a transaction since july. Most number of active wallets was in 27 july with about 63K.
- Users on Optimism spent about 406 op as fee since july.
- The average of Optimism TPS is 20 TPS approximately
- The maximum of Optimism TPS approximately higher than 250 TPS on red
- On July 27, the largest number of active users in the network reached 63 thousand people, exactly from the day after that, July 27, the transaction rate increased.
- Considering that we had 230,000 new active wallets in the whole month, on July 27th we had 27% of the whole month of new wallets.
- This implies that other layer-2's are more involved with layer-2 bridging while Optimism might be a good fit for the de-fi arena of Ethereum
The figure above shows TPS of Optimism blockchain, the red indicates maximum TPS, and the orange indicates Average TPS, and the blue indicates Total TPS, and the green indicates cumulative TPS . The figure shows that
- The average of Optimism TPS is 20 TPS approximately
- The maximum of Optimism TPS approximately higher than 250 TPS on red
- As you can see, from July 27th to August 4th, there were many transactions
- We had the most transactions on July 29 : 271k
- And the total number of transactions up to this day has been 3M
- Since July, we have had 3.8 million successful transactions and 406k unsuccessful transactions. In other words, 96% of the transactions were successful
On July 27, the largest number of active users in the network reached 63 thousand people, exactly from the day after that, July 27, the transaction rate increased.
Considering that we had 230,000 new active wallets in the whole month, on July 27th we had 27% of the whole month of new wallets.
As it is known, we had an increase in gas fee on July 26
In addition to that, we have had an increase on July 12 and July 2
As you can see, the swap has also increased on July 27.
86% of the swap is related to the velodrome finance project and 13% is related to the K project, and the project has a small share in the swap.
As you can see, the most common thing people do is transfer. The public does the most with 2.8M transfers, followed by swaps with 1.92M.
hop protocol has been the most used protocol by users with 80 thousand transactions. After that, optimism was the most with 54 thousand transactions
Introduction
In this dashboard we will be looking at Optimism data and try making some conclusions from it. It is known that Optimism is layer-2's and have been very popular among the users. We would be looking into Optimism data and try making some comparisons to others as well whenever.
What is Optimism?
Optimism is one of the layer 2 scaling solutions. It's powered by a technology called Optimistic rollups, which bundle large amounts of transaction data into digestible batches. Optimism is much cheaper to use than Ethereum.
What is the difference between L1s and L2s?
A layer 1 (L1) network blockchain that serves as the base layer to store information that can represent: - assets such as tokens; - smart contracts which can form dApps. Layer 2 refers to a secondary framework or protocol that is built on top of an existing blockchain system. The main goal of these protocols is to solve the transaction speed and scaling difficulties that are being faced by the major cryptocurrency networks.
What is a DEX?
A decentralized exchange (DEX) is a peer-to-peer marketplace where users can trade cryptocurrencies in a non-custodial manner without the need for an intermediary to facilitate the transfer and custody of funds.
Methodology:
I used optimism core tables to get the transactions made from the transactions table only for july
I used optimism core tables to get the transaction fee made paid on an average per transaction using the transactions table only for july.
I used the tables from Optimism events and labels to get the dex and find out the most popular one on Optimism using them
I find out the most popular action across all l2s optimism . Here, action implies the type of contracts with which they interact the most - De-Fi,dapp, l2 bridges or nfts.
We are looking to see what liquidity Tokens are most popular on Optimism and how these tokens have been swapped over time. To figure this out We will find the top 10 tokens on optimism in terms of swaps and uswappers and we will look at the swap activity of these tokens over time.
Action
To start with, firstly let's view the daily transactions made on Optimism:
