Methodology

We will filter our data to start from the beginning of 2022. 

We will use the following tables to find information about the daily AAVE supplied and withdrawn on the Aave protocol and the daily AAVE staked and unstaked.:

1. flipside_prod_db.aave.deposits
2. flipside_prod_db.aave.withdraws
3. ethereum.core.ez_token_transfers

The following chart shows AAVE token daily supply and withdrawal cumulative volume since 2022.

The difference between supplied and withdrawn volume started to increase at the supplied amount spike on Feb 24, and it continued to grow in the following days.

From the following chart, we can find that the total amount of Aave supplied on the Aave protocol since the beginning of 2022 is about 1.42M, and the total amount of Aave withdrawn for the same period is about 574K.

From the following chart, we can find unique users that have supplied and withdrawn AAVE on the Aave protocol per day since the beginning of 2022. There is no stable trend for the daily number of suppliers and withdrawers.

On Jun 13th, there were 19 unique suppliers, which makes it the highest number of suppliers per day since the beginnig of 2022.

On Jun 13th there were 14 unique withdrawers, which makes it the highest number of withdrawers per day since the beginnig of 2022.

We looked at the Ethereum table to find data for staked and unstaked AAVE. This chart shows the AAVE amount staked and unstaked daily since the beginning of 2022.

On Mar 28th, about 80.4K AAVE was staked, the highest daily amount.

On May 11th, about 408K AAVE was unstaked, the highest daily amount.

The following chart shows AAVE token daily stake and unstake cumulative volume since 2022.

The difference between staked and withdrawn volume started to increase on May 11 and grew in the following days.

From the following chart, we can find that the total amount of Aave staked since the beginning of 2022 is about 1.5M, and the total amount of Aave unstaked for the same period is about 2.22M.

From the following chart, we can find the number of daily AAVE stakers and unstakers since the beginning of 2022. On Jul 19th, about 1K unique users have staked AAVE, the highest number of stakers per day. But for unstakes there is no specific number as the highest daily number since the daily unstakers are approximately similar in number.

What is Aave?

Aave is a decentralized finance (Defi) protocol that lets people lend and borrow various digital assets without a centralized intermediary.

This protocol is built on the Ethereum network and uses the Ethereum blockchain to process transactions. Like competing protocols Maker and Compound, Aave allows for collateralized (secured) loans. Aave was one of the first projects also to enable uncollateralized flash loans.

Benefits

• Open Source: their lending protocols are open-source and therefore transparent.
• Non-custodial: Aave never holds your tokens. Users retain ownership of their assets. However, once deposited into the lending pool, no one is allowed to touch them, move them, spend them, or withdraw them.
• Interest rate options: Aave provides a variety of interest rates to borrowers.
• Private: Because this is decentralized, there is no KYC overhead.
• Permissionless: Participation is open to anybody regardless of background, employment status, race, gender, or location
• Flexible: Depositors (lenders) can withdraw their funds at any time simply by paying ETH gas fees. Principal + interest earned will be immediately returned.
• No hidden fees. Smart contracts run the whole system.

The following chart shows AAVE token daily supply and withdrawal volume since 2022.

There are spikes on some days that the AAVE supply and withdrawal amount has increased more than usual, such as Feb 24th, May 11th, and Jun 13th.

On May 11th, about 403.2K AAVE supplied, the highest amount per day since the biginning of 2022.

On April 14th, about 100.1K AAVE withdrawn, the highest amount per day since the biginning of 2022.

Conclusion

As mentioned in the methodology section we tried to find information about the daily AAVE supplied and withdrawn on the Aave protocol and the daily AAVE staked and unstaked since the beginning of 2022.

We drew charts about daily volume, cumulative volume and unique users for each action and tried to give some information about each chart.
