Ethereum vs. Optimism on daily basis since November 11, 2021

    • Using the above charts, we can compare the daily volume of transactions, active users, transaction fees, and new users on Ethereum with Optimism.
    • On most charts, Ethereum dominates with a big difference from Optimism.
    • Charts show that Ethereum transaction fees have recently decreased, although they are still significantly more than the average paid fees by Optimism transactions.
    • The most significant transaction fee ever paid on Ethereum was on May 1, 2022, while on Optimism, the most significant paid fee was on May 11, 2022.
    • We can observe an increasing trend in Optimism activity over time when compared to a practically consistent trend line for Ethereum in terms of transactions and active users.

Ethereum vs. Optimism on Success Rate

    • This graph shows that the average success rate of Optimism transactions is lower than that of Ethereum, which is positive thing for Ethereum.

    • After the Optimism launch, we can say that the success rate of transactions on this chain is lower than Ethereum virtually every day (except a few).

    • Also, the average success rate of Ethereum, 96.5%, is higher than Optimism, with 94.2%, which shows Optimism still has much work to do.

Ethereum vs. Optimism on total basis since November 11, 2021

    • According to the data above, Ethereum has more users, transactions, and transaction fees overall than Optimism.
    • The average fee on Optimism was 0.712 USD or 0.000258 ETH, the average fee from Ethereum transactions are 16$ USD or 0.00538 ETH. The majority of Ethereum transaction costs were incurred before the Merge phase. Transaction fees on Ethereum have decreased dramatically after the Merge upgrade, although they still aren't as low as Optimism.

    Ethereum vs. Optimism on Users

    • According to the above charts, most chain users have performed 2-10 transactions. The ratio of users with more transactions on Optimism is more than on Ethereum.
    • The user address 0xea674fdde714fd979de3edf0f56aa9716b898ec8 is the most active Ethereum user, with a total of almost 7.2M done transactions on this chain belonging to EtherMine.
    • The user address 0x7107142636c85c549690b1aca12bdb8052d26ae6 is the most active Optimism user, with a total of almost 500k transactions on this chain.

Ethereum vs. Optimism on Sushiswap data on total basis since March 15, 2022

    • As was clear, there are significantly more swappers, swap transactions, and volume on Sushiswap in Ethereum than in Optimism.
    • The average amount of paid fees (in both ETH and USD) on Ethereum is significantly more than Optimism, in addition to the total generated fees through Sushiswap swaps.
    • While the majority of swap transactions on Optimism are completed with less than $10 volume, most swaps on Ethereum's Sushiswap are completed with 1000 to 10,000 USD.
    • Optimism is negligible compared to the daily average of swaps, active swappers, and volume of swaps on Ethereum.

Ethereum vs. Optimism on Sushiswap data on daily basis since March 15, 2022

    • On the charts above, we can see that Sushiswap activity on Optimism is low compared to Ethereum.
    • Sushiswap activity on Optimism is just growing over time and at a slow rate.
    • The greatest number of swaps and swappers and amount of swaps on Optimism belong to June 1, 2022.

Ethereum vs. Optimism on Sushiswap on Users since March 15, 2022

    • The user address 0x91aae0aafd9d2d730111b395c6871f248d7bd728 has performed the most swaps and volume of Swaps on Sushiswap in the Ethereum chain.

    • thereusers address 0x45633cf115fadaeee689ca561af87fa717b47b3b has performed the most swaps , while user address 0xfedd6c84c14e4fc36154dc863e72fd068d73b250 has perfromed most volume of swaps.

Ethereum vs. Optimism on Sushiswap on Most Popular Pools since March 15, 2022

    • According to the above charts, WETH-USDC is the most used swap pool on Sushiswap on both the Optimism and Ethereum chains by number and volume of swaps.

      \

    Conclusion

    Methodology

In this Dashboard, we will first compare Ethereum and Optimism on comprehensive data, and after that, we will try to compare their details on Sushiswap.

We will use optimism.core.fact_transactionsethereum.core.fact_transactionsoptimism.sushi.ez_swaps, ethereum.sushi.ez_swaps, and ethereum.core.fact_hourly_token_prices  to find parameters like transaction fees, distribution of users by their number of swaps, the number of transactions, the volume of swaps, paid fees, etc.

    Introduction

    Optimism

Optimism is a fast, stable, and scalable L2 blockchain built by Ethereum developers, for Ethereum developers. Built as a minimal extension to existing Ethereum software, Optimism’s EVM-equivalent architecture scales your Ethereum apps without surprises. If it works on Ethereum, it works on Optimism at a fraction of the cost.

How does Optimism work with Ethereum?

Optimism is a Layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum that can support all of Ethereum's Dapps. Instead of running all computation and data on the Ethereum network, Optimism puts all transaction data on-chain and runs computation off-chain, increasing Ethereum's transactions per second and decreasing transaction fees.
