Transactions by Protocol

Using the following App ID lists from Folks Finance, AlgoFi, Tinyman, and AlgoDex, lets look at what percent of transactions their app calls and associated transactions(transactions in the same tx_group_id) make up on the Algorand blockchain. How have the number of transactions changed over time for each Protocol? Also how much in fees have been spent on transactions relating to each protocol?

    What is Algorand?

Algorand (ALGO) is both a digital currency and blockchain platform. The Algorand platform is designed to process many transactions quickly, similar to a major payments processor like Mastercard or Visa. Algorand can host other cryptocurrencies and blockchain-based projects, making it a direct competitor to Ethereum. ALGO, the platform's native currency, is used to secure the Algorand blockchain and pay processing fees for Algorand-based transactions.

    Analysis:

If we look at the first graph we can see the total daily transaction by app you can see that for the last several months the transactions have been going through cycles of larges spikes followed by a consistent period of transactions for a little and then a repeat of the cycle. On a daily basis there are transaction highs of 600k and lows over around 100k on any given day, around the current day the amount of transactions daily have been pretty consistent sticking around 150k daily. If we move onto the graph on the left we can see the percentage of total transactions that each app takes up as you can Tinyman took up a significant amount of transactions from October of 2021 all the way to February of 2022, but after that it dropped down when AlgoFi began taking up large percentages of the total transactions. Currently AlgoFi takes up anywhere from 30%-50% of the transactions daily. If we move onto the metric in the bottom left corner we can see the fees paid daily as you can see they remain pretty consistent over time with some notable spikes up to 800 in fees in a single day but usually they tend to stick around 200 in fees daily. If we look at the last metric on the right we can see a breakdown of the fees paid by app, as you can see excluding the other cateorgy algoFi and Tinyman take up the wide majority of these fees both having around 14k total in fees from using there apps.

    Conclusion:

    1. Currently the amount of transactions and fees paid using these apps have remained rather consistent
    2. the largest apps out of the 4 apps we looked at in this dashboard are AlgoFi and TinyMan
    3. Tinyman was overtaken by AlgoFi after Febuary 2022 in terms of total transactions on the app.
