$AXL Token Recap
AXL is the native token of the Axelar network. The AXL token supports the following critical functions:
-
AXL is a medium for transaction fees and any other fees for network usage, paid by users to the validators that run the network.
-
AXL is used by holders and their proxies to stake and exercise governance over proposals (such as a parameter change or protocol upgrade).
-
AXL enables incentives to support the decentralized Proof-of-Stake consensus that secures the network and validates transactions on chain. Validators receive AXL rewards as incentives to continue to secure the network. These incentive rewards are distributed programmatically, per rules encoded in network protocols, and are inflationary, i.e., each protocol reward increases the total token supply.
-
AXL is used to reward ecosystem builders and community contributors.
AXL is designed to help the Axelar network achieve four outcomes as a universal connector of blockchain ecosystems:
-
Security: providing incentives to encourage a wide set of validators to participate.
-
Decentralization: wide distribution among token holders, delegating to validators, and participating in network governance decisions.
-
Longevity: incentives that encourage maintenance of the network.
-
Ecosystem growth: incentives for developers to use Axelar SDKs and APIs to build cross-chain capabilities into their applications.()
In the left charts, you can see the top 20 paths with highest count of transfers for $AXL.
As you see, transfering $AXL from axelar to Ethereum, had the highest count of transfers among other paths.
Axelar to Polygon and Axelar to Avalanch are the two paths that had the highest count of transfers for $AXL after axelar to Ethereum.
The fourth rank belongs to transfering $AXL from Ethereum to Osmosis.
Count of transfers for these three paths was greater than 40 K transfers, while count of transfers for other paths is less than 20 K.
The paths that had the highest count of transfers, had also the highest count of distinct tranferers, too.
But, Axelar to Kujira is the path which is in the fourth rank based on count of tranferers.
The Main and most volume of tranfers for $AXL, was transfered from Axelar to Ethereum. This volume was more than 70 M USD.
Axelar to Osmosis had the total volume of 5.19 USD for $AXL transfer.
The total USD volume of transfer for the paths in the next ranks, is less than 50 K USD.
In the above charts, you can see the activities of $AXL holders on axelar and Osmosis chains separately.
As you see, count of transfers on axelar was about 5 times more than count of transfers on Osmosis chain. the highest count of trasfers on axellar, was trasfering out $AXL(as we said before, that $AXL was bridged from axelar). the next rank on axelar, belongs to transfering in axelar(as we said before, trading $AXL in axelar). and the count of transfers on axelar belongs to transfering in the axelar.
On the Osmosis chain, the highest count of trasfers was transferring out(bridging $SXL to another chain). the next actions was transfering in and trading in Osmosis chain.
Volume of transfers on the axelar is by far more than the volume on Osmosis. The main share of transfer volume, belongs to transfering in axelar. This means that although the highest count of transfers on axelar, belongs to trasfering out(bridging), but the highest volume of $AXL transfer, was traded inside the axelar chain.
On the Osmosis chain, the highest volume of transfers, belongs to transfering out. tranfering in and trading inside Osmosis were in the next ranks.
The average volume of transfering $AXL in axelar was 39.42K, while this inside transfer on Osmosis had the average volume of 5 K.
The average olume of transfering in for axelar was 579, while the average volume of transfering in for Osmosis was 1.2 K
In the next part of this bounty, we were asked to calculate the average holding period for wallets buying $AXL in the last month.
As you see, the average time between these two actions was 6.96 days, in the recent 30 days.
It’s good to mention that most count of buyers of $AXL in the recent month, hold their asset, one day or less.
From 1752 wallets that bought $AXL in the recent month, about 29% of them did not keep it more than 1 day.
About 6% of them hold it more than 20 days.
In next chart above, you can see the count of wallets that that did different actions after buying $AXL.
As you see, the highest count of wallets that bought $AXL from Osmosis DEX, had bridged it. The next popular action was trading $AXL, this means that they sold it in the axelar chain and bought another token. Only 267 wallets had hold their bought $AXL in their Osmosis wallet(about 7%). The least count of wallets transfered it within Osmosis.
In the last part of the bounty, we were asked to compare the balance of %AXL in the wallets on axelar and Osmosis chains.
As you see above, the daily balance of wallets on the axelar was by far more than the balance of wallets on the Osmosis.
You can also see that the highest count of holders, hold less than 1 $AXL in both chains.
On the Osmosis, next ranks belongs to wallets with 1 to 10 $AXL and wallets with 10 to 100 $AXL, while on Axelar, wallets with 100 to 1K $AXL and 1 to 10 $AXL were in the second and third rank(very close to each other).
In the recent day, 164 wallets hold more than 1 K $AXL on the Axelar, while this number of holders on the Osmosis chain was 198 in the same day.
So, the count of wallets that hold more than 1 K $AXL, on Osmosis was more than count of walllets than hold more than 1 K $AXL on axelar, in all days.
Count of wallets that hold more than 1 $AXL, on Osmosis was more than count of wallets than hold more than 1 $AXL on axelar, in all days.

Here we were asked to do a recap on $AXL on Axelar and Osmosis.
For this purpose, we have to use osmosis.core.fact_daily_balances, osmosis.core.fact_transfers and axelar.core.fact_transfers tabels.
$AXL is labeled as ‘uaxl’ on Axelar chain and its IBC address on the Osmosis chain is ‘ibc/903A61A498756EA560B85A85132D3AEE21B5DEDD41213725D22ABF276EA6945E’.
