An Introduction to Osmosis
In the Cosmos ecosystem, Osmosis is a sovereign DEX-focused app-chain that functions as both a blockchain and an application. The application functions similarly to other AMM-capable DEXs in that liquidity providers (LPs) are responsible for supplying asset pools with liquidity for traders. The customization of asset pools is a top goal for Osmosis, which permits adjustments to market-maker functions, exchange fees, token weighting, and more within the DEX.
There are currently 53 projects being developed on Osmosis. They will introduce to the ecosystem decentralised perpetuals, CDP-based composable collateral, yield optimization, and loan markets. Circle, the second-largest stablecoin issuer, has said that it will introduce a Cosmos-native USDC in 2023, indicating a growing interest in the Cosmos ecosystem. The Osmosis development team is hard at work on a variety of cutting-edge technologies, including a new stableswap AMM, interfluid staking, and mesh security.
Methodology
To study the metric of DAUs on Osmosis, first I need to define a limit based on the number of days these users are active on this network. Therefore, DAUs are defined jhas those users who do some transactions on Osmosis at least for 5 days per week.
The following items are going to be analyzed about DAUs:

To gain data on the metrics above, the following tables were used:
- osmosis.core.fact_transactions
- osmosis.core.fact_swaps
- osmosis.core.fact_liquidity_provider_actions
- osmosis.core.fact_transfers
- osmosis.core.fact_staking

The highest number of active users on Osmosis is 18.186k on Mar 21, 2022. The increasing trend began from the beginning of the year 2022, while in 2021 there was not any significant increase in the number of active users compared to the year 2022.

Totally speaking, we can see an ascending increase in the number of active users from Dec 13, 2021 to Mar 21, 2022. After this date there is a declining trend in this metric up to date.

Overall, there is always a strong correlation between the DAU on Osmosis and the price of the OSMO coin. Users presumably took gains at all-time highs, and following a double top, they anticipated OSMO's price would decline given the market conditions. As the price of OSMO continued to decline, the number of DAU decreased.
- Considering the cumulative number of active users, we see a continuous increasing trend in the number of active users from the year 2021 to the year 2022, so that the number of active users has increased from 1515 users on Jul, 2021 to 456.365k on Oct 10, 2022.
- Therefore, this metric shows the health of Osmosis ecosystem in terms of the good performance in number of active users
- From the graph above, it is seen that the mostly preferred transaction by active users are swapping, transferring, staking, governance vote, and LP actions. The first mostly done transaction is swapping (26.5%), followed by IBC transferring (15.3%) and Staking rewards (7.93%).
- This graph shows the number of active swappers on Osmosis during last 2 year.
- As seen, the number of active swappers has increased in the early month of the year 2022 and it has reached to its peak on Feb 28, 2022. After this date, we see a decreasing trend up to date.
- The highest number of active swappers is 10.743k on Feb 28,2022.
- Again we see an increase in the number of swaps in the year 2022. The highest number of swaps is 556.63k on May 9, 2022.
- After this date we see a declining trend in this metric up to date
- The average number of swaps per week month is 17.1k.
The first top token swapped by active users is Atom with total volume of 12.050k, followed by OSMO (11.75k) and JUNO (8123).
- The average number of liquidity providers on Osmosis per month is obtained as 7.52k.
- In a daily basis, the highest amount of liquidity providing is 70.307k on Mar 7, 2022. In all data analyzed in this dashboard it was seen that the month March has experienced the highest number of active users, transaction, swaps, and liquidity providing.
- Like other metrics examined above, active transfers in and out of Osmosis is the highest on Mar, so that the highest number of transfers into the Osmosis is 700k on Mar 21, 2022 and the highest number of transfers out of Osmosis is 45.41k on Mar 21, 2022.
- Therefore, March was a month with the highest transfers into and out of the Osmosis.
- The first wallet with the highest amount of transfer is the wallet with address “osmo1shd4………………9ng9pk with total transfer volume of 646.51k
- Both the cumulative amount of inflow/outflow transfers has increased over last two years.
- The cumulative number of inflow transfers has increased from 2806 on Jun 14, 2022 to 3.90M on Oct 17, 2022
- The cumulative number of outflow transfers has increased from 1547 on Jun 14, 2022 to 4.53M on Oct 17, 2022.
- Also, it is seen that amount of outflow transfer is more (56%) than that of inflow transfers (44%).
