Transactions by Protocol
Question:
How have the number of transactions changed over time for each Protocol? Also how much in fees have been spent on transactions relating to each protocol? Other things that can be explored are what type of transactions are each protocol producing, or has the price of ALGO been an influence on the number of transactions produced by each protocol.
\n
Methodology:
To get the transactions by protocol, the algorand.appplication_call_transactions table was used and then all the labels - Folks, ALgodex, tinyman and algofi were calculated individually and clubbed with others at the end. To get the transactions by protocol over time , the normalised one has been used to get the weight transfers (on each protocol over time)
Explanation & Insights:
- A total of 38% weight of all transactions is from Tinyman alone! While algofi accounts for 2% of all transactions while algodex and folks account for less than 1% of all application call transactions
- There has been an increase in dominance from the start across all protocols in consideration
- Notably, Tinyman had increased it’s dominance from 0% in Sep 2021 to 35% or more just in two months (Nov 2021)
- Also, algofi, algodex and folks have increased their share from nothing to more than 1% each implying that these protocols might be having a better growth than many others
- It’s clear that algofi has collected a lot of fees as compared to other fees
- By distribution, others charge a lot of fees but account for about 60%, while both tinyman and algofi have a dominance of about 20% each.
- Also, currently 40% of all application call fees comes from Algofi alone while about 20% from Tinyman despite it having the most transactions (about 40%) while the fees for others have reduced by a lot
Conclusions:
It can be concluded that all these transactions have gained dominance over time and that, yes the price has been an important factor for others but tinyman as we see a downside for others but Tinyman still seems to increase it’s dominance despite already having more than a third of all application calls on Algorand. Clearly, Algofi is known for it’s fees. It has charged it’s users a lot of fees and accounts for about 40% of all fees while Tinyman has a lesser dominance in this area
