Solana - Network Performance Dashboard

Q95. Create a dashboard displaying Solana network performance over time. How has the network performed over the past month compared to the rest of the year? Has transaction per second and success rates of transactions gone up recently? Is this because of less botting or fewer users, or new improvements from the Solana engineers? What wallets and programs have paid the most in fees for failed transactions?

    Introduction:

Solana is a blockchain that promises high throughput and low transaction costs.

However over the last few months, it has suffered several network outages resulting in halting of the network.

In this dashboard, we will look at the following things:

    • Has transaction per second and success rates of transactions gone up recently?
    • Is this because of less botting or fewer users, or new improvements from the Solana engineers?
    • What wallets and programs have paid the most in fees for failed transactions?

The above chart shows the average transactions per second (TPS) on the Solana blockchain since 1st December 2021 along with prior 7 days average TPS.

We can see that the 7 days average TPS hit a low of ~1,818 on 1st June 2022 and has been improving since then.

However it has still not crossed the peak 7 days average TPS of ~3,087 hit on 28th December 2021.

The above chart shows the percentage of successful and failed transactions on the Solana blockchain since 1st December 2021.

The percentage of successful transactions hit a low of ~44% on 12th May and has been improving since then.

The above chart shows the number of daily active users, prior 7 days average active users and the percentage of failed transactions.

The number of daily active users have been declining after reaching a peak of ~ 452.87K on 26th May 2022.

Thus the increase in success rate of transactions seems to be due to fewer active users.

The above chart shows the number of daily transactions, prior 7 days average transactions and the percentage of failed transactions.

We notice that whenever there is a spike in the percentage of failed transactions, the number of transactions are very low.

The above charts show the top 10 programs and top 10 wallets that have paid the most fees in failed transactions on the Solana blockchain since 1st December 2021.

Program FsJ3A3u2vn5cTVofAjvy6y5kwABJAqYWpe4975bi2epH has paid the most fees in failed transactions of ~5,186 SOL.

Wallet Y2akr3bXHRsqyP1QJtbm9G9N88ZV4t1KfaFeDzKRTfr has paid the most fees in failed transactions of ~868 SOL.

    Summary

    • The 7 days average TPS hit a low of ~1,818 on 1st June 2022 and has been improving since then. However it has still not crossed the peak 7 days average TPS of ~3,087 hit on 28th December 2021.

    • The percentage of successful transactions hit a low of ~44% on 12th May and has been improving since then.

    • The increase in success rate of transactions seems to be due to fewer active users.

    • Program FsJ3A3u2vn5cTVofAjvy6y5kwABJAqYWpe4975bi2epH and Wallet Y2akr3bXHRsqyP1QJtbm9G9N88ZV4t1KfaFeDzKRTfr have paid the most fees in failed transactions of ~5,186 SOL and ~868 SOL respectively.
